This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

DUDES.  No MONEY.  I could buy tickets maybe but not SHOP.  Frankly I'm flattered that you guts think so highly of me, in an "aw, shucks!" kinda way that makes me struggle for acceptance of its very fact, but I still just don't have the dough.

And anyway, we'd only be there for one day.

But if we could?  We'd go.  In a heartbeat.

PS: Hoosier?  Sort of. My definition of "Hoosier" is "A native of the state of Indiana who doesn't think the word 'hoosier' is goofy as hell".

What if we took up a friendly collection - so you'd have some spending money ?

Were I concerned with not being goofy at least a little of the time, I'd have picked another hobby. :)

I do understand that, though.  With so many dice and accessories and shiny shiny things, it is hard to not lay down a little jack for something while you're there (though with another kid on the way, I imagine my shopping budget this year is going to be a pittance).

I still always buy a new set of dice or two at Gen Con. (This last year's set was the 'Circus' set- pink opalscent. What someone at DDXP referred to as my 'rainbow pride dice')..

I *used* to buy like tons of metal miniatures and armorcast scenery and a few books or so. But my mad consumerist sprees are over. I have a massive collection of plastic DDM. I only buy a miniature now if it's for a specific character or NPC and I just have to have it. Like, last year I bought a pirate guy for one of my special PCs.

But the whole point of this is I eventually found out, about three GenCons in.. that the dealers room is totally the least interesting place! Once the catalog comes out, you can just book an event or three and go to those.

My tastes probably aren't yours (I realize you guys aren't D&D guys) but I highly recommend events rather than walking the halls.. It's cheaper, less tiring, and more fun.

In the event that any D&D people are reading this:

The awesome events this year will be the kickoff of Ruins of Greyhawk Castle, as well as the D&D Open. I have to throw in a plug for Xendrik Expeditions as well. The campaign reaches it's mid-point and 1 year anniversary this year.

Last year I got a very sexy pair of copper dice from the amazingly nice guys at the Crystal Caste booth that I use to roll critical success/miss results.  I love them.  They are tiny and twisted.  The players hate them - actually, more fear than hate.  Which makes me like them even more.

I usually also debate whether to pick up a new hex map, and then demur in favor of our group's salsa- and many other comestible-stained battle veteran.

Zach,
I was thinking, it would be neat if you ran me through Heroes Unl. I have a copy and had some trouble working through chargen and getting the game to run smoothly. Even if just a quick aside at Gen Con, it would be neat.

Thanks,
Bill

I think Klaxon would love to play in a Heroes Unlimited game as well. He's had the game forever, but could never convince me to run it, unlike TMNT.

Bill,

I'd be happy to! It shouldn't take too long, I imagine.  HU, along with Splicers, is what I consider a little bit more of a difficult game for starters in the Palladium Megaverse.  I usually start everyone out in the "mutant" class to make things a bit easier and streamlined...

Clash, Zach, James and anyone else who is going to show up,

My idea for a Nebuleon adventure.

You are Merchant Armed Services Marines sent to dig on the Frontier of known space. The corporation InterStar Transport had an archaeological dig in the G-233 system. They were working on what was thought to be the downed remains of an ancient T'kree war ship. Nine hours ago an automated distress call came in stating an emergency beeper had been activated. You will proceed at highest speed to G-233 - V and carry out your directives in the following priority.

Primary: Recover any research, artifacts or information obtained by the team.
Secondary: Discover and neutralize any threat with precedence given to recon and reporting your findings.
Tertiary: Salvage any equipment or ships from the original team.
Quarternary: Rescue any personnel.

So, interesting? I can whip up the details in a bit if you guys are interested.

Not going, but I am writing another adventure for RPGObjects' staff to run. Last year I wrote two adventures and survived, so writing one should be ok (I hope).

I'm interested with the following caveats..

  • I'm a noob when it comes to sci-fi.  Clash will have to hold my hand ;)
  • The tower has been silent on clearence.  However, it seems the compromise would be we go to Indy, but I only get, like, a day at the convention.
