While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). What pronouns are used for the gender identity of an Attack Helicopter?
"Meh."

I care only enough to post this:

Who cares?

Greetings!

*Laughing* Yeah, exactly. After the last several years, with the "Safety Tools"; Stacking committees with SJW's; Imposing stupid and insulting convention "Guidelines"; Them firing Conservative guests, speakers, etc. On and on.

Why would anyone even want to go to Gen Con? If Gen Con choked on napalm, why would anyone care?

Gen Con has been overtaken by monstrous, commie tyrant jackasses, and have absolutely ruined a decades-old reputation, and have become utterly irrelevant. No one cares what they think. No one cares what they feel. No one cares what they do. Gen Con is fucking done with.

GenCon missed an opportunity here. They should have charged to add a pronoun to your badge, and included a note that 50% of the proceeds from the pronoun funds would go to some national LGBTQ+ group. That way people who care about this and who like to signal would have bought it out of obligation, and GenCon would have made money doing that for them, both in direct funds and in the donation tax write off. Have these people not learned that the only way you normalize new things is to incorporate them into the capitalism competition model?

I'd care if they choked on napalm! I could watch that shit all day and bring popcorn!

People care about things. Right up to the point where it costs them a big mac. Then you find out how fake they are.
That's my two cents anyway. Carry on, crawler.

You make it sound like this is a logical, sane, and well thought out idea of putting pronouns on badges not just something their Chief Diversity Officer mandated in order to protect the .01% of the population for woke points.

Pronouns on badges don't even make logical sense. If you are talking to someone with a badge, you will say "you". Pronouns are only for speaking about someone in third person which, typically, never happens and most certainly won't happen to someone you don't even know.

Agreed. What they need is a good Ferengi behind the scenes. Asking the tough questions, like just how much do our woke patrons make per year, and how much can we separate from their wallet in the name of their causes?

When someone claims "It's unfair to charge underprivileged people to declare their identity" you say, "You know you're right. Which is why we're also instituting a "Fund an Underprivileged Patron"  program. You can buy someone else a pronoun which they cannot afford to buy for themselves, and you will get a special sticker on your badge to indicate you funded that program!"

And if this whole thing were financially successful news of that would spread, and other cons would start to do it too. So if you believe in the pronoun concept for convention badges, you should support profitizing the programs like this!

Seriously, if the cause is real and popular, making it part of our economy rather than giving it away for free combined with what feels like top-down directives is the way to go. That is how you normalize things - by selling them and making them feel limited in supply.

When I'm at a game convention, my typical situation is playing a game with 4 to 6 other strangers around a table. In that case, I regularly find I use third-person pronouns for other people at the table I'm playing at. i.e. "Well, if he's going to block the doorway, then I'll go around the back" or "What did she say?"  At an RPG, much of the pronoun use is for character, but players also get referenced regularly. Plus game conventions also have board games, card games, and so forth.

Pronouns are nonsense fetish material. But its no-suprise from gen-con at this point.

Preferred pronouns ARE bullshit, as is the infinity genders BS. But since you do agree with them then I demand you use MY preferred pronouns : Sir, Master, Lord.

*Laughing* You know, Geeky, "Sir, Master, Lord" sounds very nice, and appropriate. Has a masculine, old-world feel to it. I like it.

I feel the same way about it, too.

One way to avoid this pronoun nonsense is just call every at Gen Con a twat.
