This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[more crowdfunding madness] LotFP July Grand Adventures Campaign

Kelvin Green's Horror Among Thieves has funded! Is there a time for one more to fund?

Fiasco

The TowerS Two module by the guy from
GWAR (David Brockie) is on track to fund. 6 hours to go and $4200 already funded. At current funding rates ($300/hour) it's on track to get over the line.

4 modules makes the $100 grab bag offer quite attractive as you also get bonus offerings from Rob Conley and James Raggi.

Quote from: FASERIP;566687Pundit and his embarrassing misappraisal of LotFAP remind me of an old joke.

So this polack goes to a police station with a handful of dogshit. "I wanna file a report. Look what I almost stepped in!"

Pundit, you don't know when to let go.

I'm not quite sure what you're objecting to here.  Maybe you'd like to actually argue the points that you have in mind?

I'm in fact a huge fan of LotFP, I'm currently using it for two campaigns, and have consistently said its the best OSR version of D&D I've seen so far.

Or is that what you're objecting to?

Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

I think FASERIP has a problem with professionally published OSR in general. Witness his Asbergers like thread crapping in the Oher Dust thread where we are lucky enough to have the author posting.

Towers Two has funded. Jim dropped the funded level to 5k and that has now been reached.

Pyrrhic victory.

Yeah, nah. It's passed 6k now. I don't get the spitefullness of some posters.

I wouldn't be so harsh as to go that far.  On the contrary, I think its sensible to be willing to take that step, and proves its about more than just the money.  The thing I sometimes can't get about these kinds of fundraising campaigns is if a creator actually stands by this notion of "if I couldn't get 12000 dollars, but only 10000, then I'm just going to say fuck it and go home".   THAT would stink to me of the primary motivation being the money, and not the love of the game.

I've been lucky that all the games I've put out have been sufficiently successful to fit my ambitions (no blockbusters or anything, but they all paid off for me anyways); but I just really couldn't imagine myself not actually doing everything I possibly could to get a game or game product turned into a reality once I seriously commit to writing it. It just seems so contrary to my sensibilities.  Of course, I can understand if there's absolutely zero interest, if you get not the slightest lick of demand for what you're trying to produce, fine; but the idea that unless you're bringing in big bucks then it'd be somehow beneath you to put something out into the world just makes no sense to me.

The game's shit and it's amusing to me that Raggi is using people you despise to promote his shit.

BTW, has anyone received their copy of the Monolith of Shit and Peanuts yet?
Don\'t forget rule no. 2, noobs. Seriously, just don\'t post there. Those guys are nuts.

Speak your mind here without fear! They\'ll just lock the thread anyway.

Yeah, that game has a fucking horrible title.

We can discuss that here too, if you want to thread-stalk me.

Nah I'm good.  I'd rather discuss positives like 4 modules getting funded rather than some random threadcrapper.

So in the end, Raggi has had his most successful crowd sourcing venture, at least in total of funds raised.  4 projects for a total of over 25k.  I do like the fact these will be four modules we would otherwise never have seen.  I am particularly excited about Jeff Rients and Vincent Bakers's modules.

Amen - and I'm very positive that all the three modules I threw money at, ended up funding. I didn't expect Towers Two to fund, when I went to bed last night. Good stuff.

And excellent point, Pundit. In it for the love of games and gaming.

The game's not shit. Its genius.  Its just that Raggi is a guy who's made some unfortunate choices.
