This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Didn't waste time lurking..

Have you looked at the Dragon blooded of Exalted.  They (despite the name) are humans with a strong affinity for the elements, those kin to fire emit puffs of smoke when they speak, Wood grow bark instead of skin.

Might be some stuff of use to you.

Hinterwelt's magic systems really work well and can be easily meshed with most any system.

sorry, man...apparently my visit must've toppled it.  well, to ruin the suprise, it was 3 pages from a totally sweet Adam Ant comic book.

Instead, i'll just insert this:

I don't want them to have the bloodlines bit going on, doing that kind of forces them to choose those races.

Also, I think that adding a spirit to each of them that grants elemental powers is going to make my head spin with 5 or so characters PLUS their 5 spirits. eek eek eek! It's my first time DMing, and while I want something different I also don't want my eyes to roll up into my skull trying to keep everyone and their spirit straight.

Pseudo- that is it exactly. They're going to be Humanoid (human [fire]) or Humanoid (Illumian[water]) or half orc or pixie or dragonkin if they so desire, but everyone is going to have these aspects that everyone in the world is born with, unless they're Nulls or Watchers (which I don't plan on the PCs being, for my game purpose).

I do plan to incorporate the Spell-touched, Astrological, and Birth (ie: Born under a Blood moon) into these, but I think that the Bloodline feats are kinda crazy powerful and they seem geared toward casters.

And omg weeeeeee! Blue Princes avatar!

I suppose Cinderella could be blue-ish. She's in that confection of a white gown when she gets the Prince though, and she's blonde- which I am not. Blue Princess works :P

Uh...my little princess likes purple?

But seriously, if I wanted to incorporate this elemental idea into a game, I'd probably write up a short Feat tree for each element.  Maybe the average Flamian can heat their soup, but that doesn't really warrant any mechanics.  When you get into actual game-effecting elements your two basic coinages are feats or levels.  I think Feats work better in this case because it sounds like the goal is a Rogue 10 with some fiery powers, not a Rogue 4/Fire-eater 6.
