This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Games You Didn't Want To Like, But Did

Quote from: misterguignol;454559Why is this rather simple concept so hard for you to understand?

It's not difficult to understand. Perhaps you meant to say, "I've explained my position to you. Now why aren't you automatically agreeing with me?"

Quote from: jhkim;454589Ron Edwards has six published RPGs:  Sorcerer, Elfs, Trollbabe, It Was a Mutual Decision, Spione, and S/Lay w/Me.

Stupid Wikipedia. I checked to see what games he's written before I commented. Neither it nor the Spione intro page mentioned others beyond Sorcerer.

Quote from: RPGPundit;454574Anyways, don't mind Seanchai too much, guys, he's just a crazy homeless guy camped out on my front lawn vomiting up nonsense.

Uh-oh! I hurt somebody's feelings with a comment. You can tell which ones Pundit brushes off and which ones concern him because he gets snarly over the latter. Sorry about that!

No, I'm wondering why you don't see this as being common sense.  Do you investigate a product knowing full well that there is a 90% chance that you won't like it?

I'd bet that you don't do that and that you're being disingenuous.  And thus arguing in bad faith.  This is clear as it has been pointed out that you don't even know what you're talking about re: the number of games Edwards has written and your complete avoidance of the amount of stuff he's published about designing games.

The fact that you've descended into taking swipes at the people you're talking to doesn't do anything to dispel the sinking feeling that you're just here to shit on the lawn.

I'm guessing that this is merely the silly rhetorical position you got caught up in trying to troll in this thread.  Better luck next time, old chap.

You didn't so much as hurt my feelings as you left me flabbergasted with your capacity for unintentional irony.

Quote from: misterguignol;454690No, I'm wondering why you don't see this as being common sense.

Because it's not. It may be common, but it's certainly not sensible.

Quote from: misterguignol;454690I'd bet that you don't do that...

You'd have bet wrong.

Um... well... bringing it back on topic before people start suplexing one another through tables, mine was the Buffy RPG. Because it's BUFFY for frigs sake and I hate that show. I thought the idea of one player being ubermensch while the others are sidekicks looked insane. And the system looked "meh".

While I played my character more like a World of Darkness character, the others played the bubbly sort of teens you'd expect on the show (they were fans). I wound up liking the system and the setting. I still hate the show. But there. I admitted it. I like the Buffy RPG.

;)

Wait, so you check out every game that comes down the pike?

Hell, we know you don't do that because as you admitted above you aren't even familiar with all of Edward's games...even though you were using him as an example!

Quote from: misterguignol;454240Then what is your point here:

Pundit banned Seanchai once, and there haven't been any 4e threads to troll in, so Seanchai is amusing himself by arguing with Pundit in two or three different threads at the moment.

Quote from: misterguignol;454690I'd bet that you don't do that and that you're being disingenuous.  And thus arguing in bad faith.
He does that. A lot.  Particularly when Pundit's tossed sand in his vagina.

Wasn't there a "Dating a Wererat RPG" in there somewhere?

Prove it. So far all evidence points to misterguignol being correct. Past posting behavior on your part would tend to confirm Mr. G's assertion as well.

No. Of course, my position isn't that you have to check out literally check out every game that's produced. My position is that you shouldn't let prejudice and preconceptions keep you from investigating games.

Then why this dogged insistence that we really need to check out each and every game Ron Edwards publishes?

Also, "prejudice and preconceptions" aren't the same thing as "personal preference."

I don't know. You'd have to tell me as that's all you.
