This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Games on itch.io

Hi, I've recently published some games on itch and I'm wondering what you guys think of the platform. Personally I like it well enough, there's a decent amount of good games there and ever so often you'll find some cool experimental stuff like the one page rpgs by gshowitts. You can find his stuff here:https://gshowitt.itch.io/ . Anyways what do you guys think of it. Do you have any games you like from there, any games you hate? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

I post ttrpgs, zines, and other physical books/games.

My only problem with it is that I have a hard time finding things there.  If I want just to look at a certain genre of ttrpgs, I don't know what tags to put in to just get that and not a a bunch of other stuff.  It doesn't seem like there are universally accepted "ttrpg" tags that everyone uses.

Of course, it's entirely possible I'm just too old and I don't know how these darn kids do things today.

Yeah, there's barely any quotes on there for ttrpgs because, itch.io was originally just a video game site. The music, comic, and book communities have the same problem as well.

No, I have exactly the same problem.

I have been getting rather irritated by DTRPG lately so decided to do an experiment on ITCHIO. So far it is working out. There are a lot of people on that site even if most of them are not exclusively interested in 'physical games'. I need to learn more.

Itch is ok, and though it more focused on computer games originally, the admins try to accommodate it for tabletop games as well.

I browse through the rpgs every couple of months.  Some of these are really light or experimental or even border on being a complete game.  All of them were at least interesting ideas/reads.  I know some of these are also on DTRPG, but I found them on itch first.

2400 series of low-fi sci-fi
Beast Hunters - Bloodcarved Edition
Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes Nerdy Pup Games (My Chemical Romance's Danger Days the RPG and just finished a crowdfunding campaign for a full release)
We Deal in Lead by By Odin's Beard (a numbers barely filed off version of King's Dark Tower setting)
Escape from Dino Island
Most things by Lone Archivist
Heroes of Cerulea (this just finished a Kickstarter for a full on game, it's NES era Legend of Zelda the RPG)
Anima Prime (great for mimicking Japanese style video game RPGs and anime)
In the Light of a Ghost Star
Shattered City
BALIKBAYAN: Returning Home
A Stitch in Time

Searching up the Watabou profile should lead to a nice suite of random map generators (cities, caves, dungeons, realms, and more).

Finally, I recently found Slice & Dice by tann.  It's a cheap (with free demo) game where you get 5 heroes, each with their own unique d6.  You roll the dice to see what each hero can do each round and battle your way through 20 increasingly difficult fights while leveling up and getting treasure to make you more powerful.
