This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ian Absentia

I'll give this guy some props right now, though indirectly, I suppose.

Over in my thread about my kids' D&D game, I mentioned how our recent session went very poorly.  One thing I left out of the story, though, was how I had my son sit down with the PHB and read up on the basics of combat so that more than one of us at the table had a solid grasp on the rules.  He did so, and later proved a very sound understanding of how combat was supposed to proceed.

An RPG encouraged literacy.  Really.

!i!

(P.S. And it looks like Hercules Invictus might be teaching the Charles Atlas method of physical self-improvment, too! :haw: )

It strongly encourages reading comprehension and active reading.  You can skim through a novel without gaining a deep understanding.  But if you don't know how to calculate your attack bonus, you need to read and search for the right info.

Age of Fable

At first I wondered who'd win in a fight - him or Direction Man, but then I realised the answer would be (booming voice): "We fight only for justice. Not to see who's strongest."
