This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The Traveller

I came across this link recently and was immediately inspired.

He's gone and taken a standard dumpster and cut it into a fully functional home, when closed up it looks just like any other dumpster. For PCs working with a secret organisation, call of Chtulhu investigators, espionage or something like Sam and Dean from Supernatural, this would be a very handy resource if you needed to vanish for a few days or get a little R&R.

Another idea that comes to mind are useful research materials or even magic spells stored on USB keys in dead drops installed in say public libraries, you plug an adaptor (only looks like a plug, but with longer prongs)+computer into the right power socket and download the latest information and underground news.

Any other hidden in plain sight inspirations, resources, plot hooks etc?

I think leaving the slots on the side so that a garbage truck can pick it up, flip it over, and dump it is a disaster waiting to happen.

The inspiration behind one of the more famous fictional hide-in-plain-site examples:

Yeah that's where he keeps the popcorn maker as he's not a part of a secret underground monster slaying organisation. :D

These are pretty neat:

Not entirely sure why anyone would want to make those in real life, but there you have it.

That's a tent that looks exactly like a car cover, handy for camping out in the city centre.

IceBlinkLuck

There was this truck posted all over the net last year. Would make a great 'stealth command center' for a monster hunter.

The bin bags are an excellent idea, very simple but very effective and easy to DIY as well.

These are those "perfect ideas" that you have and it solves a bunch of problems.

Wow.

My good resources are the exceptional advances made in hearing aid technolgy in the last 7 years or so.  They have increased range (better than my old toy parabolics)  and the ability to filter noise.  I was just about to get one for a LARP (and the larp collapsed).  You can record from and manipulate the effects of the device by blue tooth controls.

Little wireless webcams and toy helicopers.  Sure the weigh addition of the camera makes most of the "less expensive" options have a flight time of about 5 minutes (tops).  Yet, you can equip yourself with spy materials for under 60 bucks... which beats better cameras and real RV helicopers.

Webcam and radio controlled trucks makes a great option as well.  Cheap and very disposible.  Yet you can go for more cash and get better, but the moment someone realizes what it is... they will destroy it.. so why go for more.
