This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Did anyone make it out to an FLGS for FreeRPG Day?

I made it out to three places around town with kids and a friend in tow, and things were busy, to say the least.  Even in the place that was mainly a comic store with a few games, there were people checking out the goodies and the stock.

Two of the stores had crowds of people playing games and rolling dice, and in one of them there were games slated to run all the way up through close (midnight).  Due to time restraints, I couldn't really stick around and play, but from what I could tell there were a lot of folks gaming.

The one thing I couldn't really tell was whether the gaming was actually bringing in new people into the hobby, or whether the participants were gamers taking advantage of something new.

I picked up the DCC Adventure and Harn Map as well. And my wife got the pathfinder adventure for me. Overall pretty happy with what I got. I like how they used the back of the Harn map for campaign info. And used lots of Richard Luscheck's excellent art

I made a point of picking up the Harn map too, as well as the C&C intro game, "In Search of Adventure".  My youngest picked up a copy of the Harn map, and she came to me later and asked if I'd mount it in her room for her.

Actually, the C&C game was unusual in the offerings because it was a game for 1st Level characters; most of the other freebies were for higher levels.

My brother-in-law contacted me yesterday and asked if I'd pick up the Paizo Pathfinder game for him.  Turns out that the closest FreeRPG Day participants in Louisville were stores in Cincinnati.  He had a family commitment, so he couldn't make the drive up I-71.  However, I do know that there were several cars with Louisville markings on them at the stores I went to, and the owner of one of the stores confirmed that he'd seen a lot of Louisville folks in his store today.

Ghost Whistler

I'd be curious as to Eleventh Hour, but frankly I don't know why they don't just pdf it as a free download (they will eventually). Quite honestly the whole free rpg day seems like a giant waste of time anyway.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I got to play in a great Labyrinth Lord game and picked up several freerpgday items including the dice tower which is totally awesome.  :)

I don't think I even saw a dice tower in the places I went to; that disappeared quicker than even the chocolates.

I picked up the Aspect Quickstart adventure, "Here There Be Demons", and the Pathfinder module "Dawn of the Scarlet Sun".

My son picked up the Harn map and the Pathfinder module "We Be Goblins".

I didn't even know Free RPG Day already happened.

I hang my head in shame.
