This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Found a cool notebook

Mystery Man

It came in the mail today.

I've been looking for something useful to write my campaign notes in. I can't use the computer (because I have no self control) whenever I get on to work on my campaign I end up surfing the web and coming to places like...here. :) So, I got tired of shifting between notebook and graph paper and after sifting around the web (none of my local bookstores had exactly what I wanted) I found this.

Grid Notebook

The horizontal lines are a heavier gray than the vertical lines so when I need to, any page becomes a graph. Very nice! Just thought I'd share.

p.s. I got the 240 pager.

p.p.s. The pages are numbered.

And here I thought I might be the only one with an unnatural draw to the stationary section of a department store...
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

As Kovalic says, office supply stores are toy shops for grown ups.

Christmas Ape

Heheheh. My fiancee literally has to drag me away from office supply stores, sections of department stores, discount runs of looseleaf...

When she doesn't drag me in there herself. :D

The default exercise books in spain seem to be squared paper, I pick up one or two every time I go over. I have pocket books, A4 size spiral bound, all sorts. It's a perk I didn't realise I would get from marrying a spanish bride.

I've seen these before Mystery Man, but never used them.  They are pretty cool!

I can get them for the same price you got yours at our local textbook store, these kind of notebooks are still required by some old science profs.

I'm suddenly in love with the idea of having all the notes for a campaign in one nice hardbound volume sitting on the shelf next to the rulesbooks.

Have any of you checked out the "GameMastery Campaign Workbook" that Paizo is coming out with? I've been seing thier ads in either dragon or dungeon, I can't remember offhand. http://paizo.com/store/paizo/gameMastery/campaignTools

The grid notebook looks sweet, and would be more easier to use for different systems however.
"Dr.Who and CoC are, on the level of what the characters in it do, unbelievably freaking similar. The main difference is that in Dr. Who, Nyarlathotep is on your side, in the form of the Doctor."

Take care Nothingland. You were always one of the most ridiculously good-looking sites on the internets, and the web too. I\'ll miss you.  -"Derek Zoolander MD" at a site long gone.

Mr. Analytical

I like the world map page, that's quite a nice innovation that I haven't seen anywhere else but I'd be put off by the idea of a book with as clumsy a neologism as "GameMastery" stencilled on the front of it.

They could have gone for a Victorian explorer look or the navigationa charts of a Spanish explorer but no... a nonsense word and the kind of deteriorated cheap-looking red leather you seldom see away from the house of lords or the corsets of aged and pox-ridden prostitutes.

A vulgar and tasteless trinket thrown up by an increasingly moribund industry desperate to wring a few final cents from its easily manipulated and witless customer base.

Mystery Man

That NPC page sample looks like takes up an assload of room, my NPC stats usually take up two lines of notebook paper.

What kind of textbook store? Try as I might I could not find a local provider of what I was looking for.

That's a pretty, pretty notebook.

Bingo, Mr. Analytical.
However, that notebook that the original poster bought is might fine. If I didn't have a predilection toward more eclectic methods of organization, I'd say I'd grab it today.

Well, the ones I've seen these particular notebooks in are my university textbook store (in the Student Center) and 710 Bookstore in downtown Carbondale, IL.

@jrients

You may have just convinced me to buy one of these things, because they would look damn good on the shelf!

The GameMastery book's world page is nifty, but if I was going to do a whole planet for a campaign I'd probably use the Traveller hex-and-triangle projection.  Also, I'm annoyed with this line from the ad copy:
Quotesmall enough to carry with you at all times but big enough to handle all your campaign planning needs.
Spare me the flowery talk and give me the actual dimensions of the book, please.
