That's actually one of the reasons I have such high hopes for FCI. Between Libris Mortis and the articles he's written for Dragon Magazine, JJ strikes me as a top-notch writer. Mona has done a great job editing both magazines, in my oh-so-humble opinion ;) , and I really enjoyed The Whispering Cairn from Dungeon 124. Two writers, both of whom I already consider to be good writers, joining forces for the kind of book i'm already inclined to enjoy?

one of the coolest things was when someone posted a link to the Amazon preview on ENW, and the Erik Mona and James Jacobs posted in the thread, hinting that they would be looking around ENW for suggestions and ideas.  i went and dug up all the lore i could find, including stuff like this:

I look forward to this Hordes of the Abyss book, but only if it is closer to $30 than $40.  I went to Schuler's  (a local independant book store that has a small D&D section) yesterday looking for the new Tome of Magic because the tie-in article in Dragon #341 made it sound quite nifty.  A fairly detailed look-through at the bookstore confirms it is indeed nifty, but it is also $40, so I bought the Manual of the Planes ($30) instead.

I'm not sure if MM4 will have any true dragons, but there will certainly be draconic creatures in it. This is WOTC's "Year of the Dragon" after all, and they have said that there'll be lots of "Spawn of Tiamat" in MM4.
