This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I guess FFG sees it that if all the cool kids are doing it, then it should do so too :)

65 bucks (about £35) for a game that was £25 in the shops.

"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

Yeah. Unfortunately, its the going rate to cover the cost for full colour POD.

The upside is that if you own it, you don't need to buy it, and if you don't own it, then this is likely cheaper than buying it OOP.

The downside is... well there isn't any I can see. :)

I have WFRP 1e at home.  What are the big differences in 2e?
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

WFRP1e is a great RPG. 2e cleans up the rules somewhat. The Primary Characteristics are condensed into 8 stats, Talents and Skills operate more uniformly, Careers are restructured to provide IMO an improved series of advancement, Races are more balanced to each other, combat and spells move away from their WFB routes to something which IMO is more RPG-like and the dice are condensed down to just a D10.

Magic has IMO been the most improved mechanically, though it does adopt the Colleges of Magic idea that came from WFB after WFRP1e was released.

The setting sees some change as its set after the big Chaos war that happened in WFB, though IMO you can run with the WFRP1e setting with no trouble. The main two I can think of is that Bretonnia has an Arthurian vibe and magic is now based on the Colleges of Magic.

However, it did also provide a more detailed and even coverage of the entire setting throughout the line.

The Career Compendium is also in print on demand... and in hardcover for the first time

Yeah, which is kinda tempting - especially as the binding on my softback utterly disintegrated.

Beats paying $85 for a NM copy from Noble Knight.

I hate myself.

Tome of Corruption is up for Print on Demand too!!! :D

ZWEIHÄNDER

I'm genuinely curious what the print quality will be like. Has anyone worked with DriveThruRPG's print on demand option?
No thanks.

They go through Lightning Source, and I've had several of my books done through them.  Pretty good quality.  The only issue I ever had was that it looked like the spine wasn't quite wide enough, so when you set the book down, the top cover wanted to lift up a bit and not sit flush.

Full colour POD hardcovers from DT are very good IME. They also have full bleed.

It is the B&W POD softcovers from DT that have more variable quality.

...seven years ago. And is now OOP.

I like 2e, other than the fucking Storm of fucking Chaos, and I'd play it. But I think I prefer the lunatic wierdness and energy of 1e.

WFRP 2e, of course, later evolves into the 40kRP system.

I prefer to be unrestricted by edition and use whatever the hell I like :D The only setting embedded element in 2e is the magic concept, but even that can be changed flavourwise.

Matt McElroy of DT has confirmed that FFG is working through a process of putting all WFRP2e books into POD. Happy days.
