This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Feast of Legends from Wendy's

2. It's kinda weird to see people who rant about anti-capitalists who get tweaked about commercialism in their precious hobby.

I am all for humor in gaming. I am just not digging a Wendy's RPG, and I don't think the humor is funny. My whole issue here was I merely expressed non-interest in the game, and the reaction was strong. People are holding up my reaction to the reaction as if it were my first post. All I said initially was "zeeero interest".

I don't know. Like what you like. I think a Wendy's RPG is a stupid idea.

As for 2, I don't know what that has to do with my post. I don't think I've ever said anything much about capitalism or anti-capitalism. Certainly haven't ranted about either.

Quote from: Doom;1107671I too am a little puzzled at the reaction.

Have I read a 90+ page ad for Wendy's? I suppose I have (fwiw, I like Wendy's food, though it's been well over a year since I've eaten any.)

Is it fairly priced? Yes. It's free. It's so tough to hate free; I know commercials are "free" but in this case I could have stopped reading at any time.

I'm already looking into modding the adventure for my 5e group, just for fun. I might even eat some Wendy's when I run it, assuming it can be modded easily. I suppose I could rant about how the game game isn't fully fleshed out but...free.

Get a grip. Nothing wrong with not liking a commercial, but ranting is a bit much.
I agree. I found it to be a fun read and am looking forward to running a one-shot with this for my group just because it's quirky. Is it a commercial? Yeah, I suppose, but somebody put a LOT of creativity into the thing and I have to give a "thumbs up" because of that. :)

This is the firm, seems a standard marketing firm

I think the lead creator was a guy named Tony Marin.

Looks like Marin makes fun of Antifa on his Twitter as well.

Quote from: Bren;1107669Not hardly. The OD&D rules were one step above a mimeograph machine. Maybe by the mid 1980s, but that was more than 10 years after the publishing beginning.

OD&D was more adventure gaming than role-playing back in the day.

Quote from: Mistwell;1107680Looks like Marin makes fun of Antifa on his Twitter as well.

That explains the lack of any virtue signaling in Feast of Legends.

Jesus did Zweihander have some hand in this? I hope not.

Quote from: BedrockBrendan;1107651......I like Wendy's food. I just don't see the point of a Wendy's RPG.

Not everything has to have a 'point'. Sometimes silly and goofy are reasons for doing something - even better if overly political types get mad about it.
If my nearby Wendy's was giving it out free or selling it for a buck apiece with the money going to charity - I would buy it.

I don't see the point either, but if people are having fun with it, tres coolio. Go forth and dice with Wendy!

Links???

It is done for the chuckles. If you have not noticed lately Wendy's has lightened up a bit and this may be just another fun pastime idea for someone on staff. Akin to the old Mc Donalds games, Captain Crunch PC games. And so on. Even... Burger King???

Yes. That is a real X-Box game. One of 3 apparently. There is also a Burger King... Uno card game???

well, I for one, dislike Wendy's because last time I ate there I ordered a plain bacon cheese burger (burger, bun, cheese, bacon) and after sending it back 4 times, it was finally close enough to being right that I could eat it and not have my food allergies react.

Gagarth

I guess this one of those fascist OSR products that Sword Dream has been complaining about.  I see SJW Daniel "Lying Sack of Shit" Fox  is pushing it  and using it as a opportunity to advertise that game of his that is really a rip off of Warhammer.  Hopefully that will put a major dent in his SJW creds.

Why is everyone suddenly being so literal? That isn't what I meant by "I don't see the point". Its an expression. I am just saying, I don't understand the interest. Clearly the political thing is getting people on either side worked up about this topic more than they otherwise would be. I don't personally care about the politics behind it. I just think the RPG is stupid, regardless of that stuff.

Keep it up man. I'm making one hell of a cringe compilation to chuckle at later.

How is not liking a product, and finding it kind of lame, cringeworthy?

I don't know. Feels like I am saying one thing, and getting reactions like I said something else (not just here, but happening on facebook and other platforms as well).

Cringe if you want. I think this is a stupid product.

Abraxus

BRB your welcome to not like the product. Some do others really don't care either way.

Except correct me if I'm wrong you keep repeating your not a fan of the product while expecting some kind of validation of your position. Repeating your position over and over is not going to change posters mind on the product. It begins to get kind of embrassing and to be honest cringeworthy.

Saying 2+2= 5 over and over is not going to make it so.  Imo move on and just admit you lost this battle. Again not something I would ever use or run yet I'm not going to hold it against those that do. Pretending not to understand why is being disingenuous imo. I'm not a fan of Thaco personally I get why some like it.
