This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Oh my gawd, Brendan, how could you not find the Wendy's RPG the latest hotness! You shit-stirring edgelord, you! I'm gonna have to power-flounce away after this. /flounce
:p

:D This topic is cray-cray, lovez it. Good to see you again, Brendan. Been too long. :) Can't believe all it took was some shock at your opinion on a spoof-rpg to keep you here engaged. ;) What else do you not like so we can go back and forth and keep you for a few more weeks? :D

Take care, write soon, don't be a stranger! :)
Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Well, it isn't directly RPG related, but I kind of agree with Martin Scorsese's recent opinion about MU movies.

I pop in now and again to places, but have been scaling back my engagement with social media in general.

I just keep sending your posts to a discord group and we're all getting a good laugh.

Though many don't get why you don't just shut up.

Like damn you are putting in a ton of effort to express your dislike of a fairly solid RPG system covered in branding.

I think this is great.

Remember the audience it is intended for:  Young kids, not brooding grognards with too much history in the hobby.

My young kid was mouth agape when I showed him this.

Who give a crap if it tied in with a fast-food company:  It gets my kid interested enough to play RPG's, lighting the spark for him to consider other things than TV and video gaming.

I can brood about the commercialization of the hobby ruining my childhood dreams on my own time.

How many normies are gonna know where to find 4-sided dice, or know to look for the Wendy's online die roller, to play this thing?

Tells you in the rulebook and apparently the roller also exists as an app? I am not sure though as have not checked the roller yet to see what it is.

Would be hilarious if they started selling d4s at Wendy's. :o

.

The bar for laughter must be pretty low for you and your friends on that discord group. There are much more entertaining threads out there than this one

And I wouldn't knock a little kid for liking it, just like I wouldn't insult a child for wanting a happy meal to get the toy. A grown man buying a happy mean for he toy on the other hand...

Look, a lot of my close friends also like this game. I haven't really have much of an issue expressing this opinion to them at all. They like it, I can't stand it. I think their tastes in this instance kind of sucks. But it doesn't become this thing it is becoming here and elsewhere.

I hardly ever buy Wendy's, like every couple of years maybe.

But for some reason I found myself there on Saturday night just after they released Feast of Legends.

Co-incidence?  ;)

I accidentally closed the tab of the reddit thread, but there's at least one reactionary google-docs rpg offering to Wendy's FoL: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dq_1G1Zh_cMQil-BYT1QqsTTTwLhB94Bz8IW7-1an6M/edit

Silence, Brand is a tabletop game about combating corporate pandering. It is a game for 2-5 players and 1 Game Master or GM. It is the aim of each player to shut down or hijack social media campaigns, steal money from the corps, encourage mass boycotts, and expose corruption.

Wow. Interesting "joke" in there about bribing people to commit real-world violence against a person in exchange for "winning the game forever" and "$1000" by mail. Classy.

Nihilistic Mind

The Feast of Legends is a good bit of satire. There will be some that play it, once, maybe twice. There might even be a group that will play a somewhat lengthy campaign. But that doesn't change the fact that it is satire. It's a comedy piece.
Running:
Dungeon Crawl Classics (influences: Elric vs. Mythos, Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania).
DCC In Space!
Star Wars with homemade ruleset (Roll&Keep type system).

I looked at it. I read it. And I got a good laugh.

But ultimately? What's the harm? It is a very basic introduction to what new players can expect from the RPG hobby. Cloaked in a lot of bad silly humor.

Anything that demystifies the hobby to the mainstream is good in my book. It gives another voice out there besides those who were behind the 'Satanic Panic'.
