This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Favourite RPG aliens?

I was wondering what your favourite RPG aliens are?
Which aliens have you or your players enjoyed roleplaying and which aliens make great NPCs?

So atheists have been abused, treated badly by clergy or they\'re stupid.They\'re just being trendy because they can\'t understand The God Delusion because they don\'t have the education, plus they\'re just pretending to be atheists anyway. Pundit you\'re the one with a problem, terminal stupidity.

The Pierson's Puppeteers from the Ringworld RPG. Awesome concept, fun to play. :D

Settembrini

Protectors, also from Niven.

But they aren´t really aliens, so I chose:

Käfer from 2300 AD.

Dr Rotwang!

Hivers, from the Official Traveller Universe.  They're charmingly weird.

Close second wouldbe the K'Kree, also from Trav, because they're the snooty, smelly bastards that you love to hate.  I wonder if they taste good...

ColonelHardisson

The Kafer from 2300.

The Pale from Dark Conspiracy (though they're not aliens in the sense meant here, I guess)

Pentapods, 2300

Eber, 2300

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Protectors would be high on my list too, if they were indeed aliens... :D

If protectors were in an RPG book, they would be munckin-fodder.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

Nah! They'd be SF Supers. :D

Franklin

Like other people, the Kafers in 2300AD.

Thanks

And another vote for the Kafers.

I'd also like to nominate the Vargr from Traveller.  However, in my Traveller universe, the Vargr are the product of human "uplift" modification.  Originally modified dogs along the lines of Transhuman Space's K-10 -- physically recognisable dogs with increased intelligence -- they successfully lobbied for recognition as independent sophonts, obtaining individual rights and privileges within 150 years of their creation. Thereafter, they channelled the wages to which they were now entitled to purchase further genetic engineering for their offspring, a process that was refined in each subsequent generation, culminating in the eventual gene-grafting of human genetics to their own. Eventually, they had succeeded in obtaining a consistent humanoid profile, human-standard digitalia, human-level intelligence, full speech, and, most importantly, were able to breed true without further genetic intervention (though genetic monitoring and counselling is standard practice among their race). They developed their own language as well, re-naming themselves, the Vargr.

Er...sorry for that digression.  I just like making sense of the goofier bits from Traveller.  You should see what I did with the Aslan.

fonkaygarry

Eye heart Genestealers.  Purple, scaly, claw-y, toothy Genestealers.

They live in empty space hulks for no good reason.  They spawn hydrocephalic halfbreeds with psychic powers.  They throw down with Space Marine Terminators on a weekly basis.

They're the bugs from Aliens with the serial numbers painted over and that's the point.
