This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Fantasy, definitely. I don't like much in the way of generic or D&D type fantasy, but give me a great setting and rules that make sense in light of that setting(like Earthdawn or Agone) and I'm all over it!

Post-apocalypse for me.  It mixes the weirdness and danger of fantasy settings with guns, vehicles, and a bit of survivalism.

Imperator

Fantasy, but it's a really difficult choice for me.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

SunBoy

Ditto. Fantasy, because I'm taking it to include things like supers and TMNT besides Tolkienesque fantasy, but sci-fi is a very close second (I take Star Wars and cyberpunk would go in there).

Historical baby, all the way.

My Monghol hordes trample your orcs and rejoice in the lamenting of their womenfolk.

Assuming orcs have womenfolk that is.

I don't think Orcs are historical, and therefore can't be trampled by your historical mongols, unless the term has some odd meaning for you that isn't part of consensual reality...

Claudius

For me, fantasy, specially low fantasy, although I like also sword and sorcery and high fantasy, and historicals. It includes westerns, doesn't it?
Grając zaś w grę komputerową, być może zdarzyło się wam zapragnąć zejść z wyznaczonej przez autorów ścieżki i, miast zabić smoka i ożenić się z księżniczką, zabić księżniczkę i ożenić się ze smokiem.

Dude, Tolkien is perfectly clear that Middle Earth predates our world.  Are you saying Tolkien lied?

brettmb

I'm just so damned sick of fantasy.

Pierce Inverarity

Me too. Yet I like it best for RPGs. Go figure.

Yeah, genre fatigue is a risk of the hobby, but also curable by the hobby.
