This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Mounting a map

I am looking for suggestions on how I can mount my Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerers of Hyperborea foldable setting map that comes with the core rulebook to something solid where I will not need to unfold it every time I want to use it with my players and then have to fold it back up again.

Has anyone out there done this? How should I go about this, please?

You can get it professionally backed and framed, but that can get very expensive very quickly.

I go to Staples or Officemax and get all my poster size maps laminated. I keep them rolled up in a clothes hamper. In my dice box I keep a set of fabric pattern weights to hold down the corners.

I started doing this with my Wilderlands maps in the late 80s. Then did my Harn maps, and so on. It takes over two decades before the edges of the laminate start peeling apart even with heavy use. Even then only one of five maps experienced this.

How much does that usually cost?

Appears to be at $2 per square feet.

So if this is the map
http://www.hyperborea.tv/store/p22/HYPERBOREA_Unfolded_Paper_Map.html

Then it will cost you around $18 or so dollars. A little pricey but entirely worth if it going to get heavy use.
