This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Personally speaking, Dark Heresy.  Brilliant game.  Though in some ways it's just an updated 40k version of WFRP, so it might not count either.  :D

The exact statement went

Quote from: RPGPunditnot based on an earlier game (either as a new edition, or as a retro-clone)

and while M&M is d20-based, it is neither a new edition or a retro-clone. That goes for d20 Modern and True20 as well. Hunter: The Vigil is out though.

As The World pointed out, True20 and M&M seem to deviate adequately from d20 to be considered 'new games'.

If not, then I vote for HARP.

Why? It's not exactly a new version of Hunter: The Reckoning, more like an expansion of the nWoD core game with a greater emphasis on firepower and survival skills.

Personally, though, I'd have to go with Changeling: The Lost.

Forgive me for being pedantic, but it's "The Worid". The misspelling is intentional (inside joke).

If M&M isn't a possible choice, I'd say Dark Heresy.

I'd say it still counts as a new edition; but whatever, it's a good game (my favorite nWoD title).

Make that 3 for Savage Worlds.

It's between Savage Worlds and FATE for me, though I've played a lot more FATE in the last several years (both Spirit of the Century and Starblazer).

This is a really tough one.  I'd say the Epic RPG, Truth & Justice, Savage Worlds, In Harm's Way...depends when you catch me.

Does Castles & Crusades count?

Even if it does, Savage Worlds.

I didn't mention it b/c I wasn't thinking it met the criteria.

Lot of SavWo love.  Seems to have been an upswing in that lately.

I think Savage Worlds is a TOOL OF THE DEVIL.

As for the best new game since 2000, I really love the ORE mechanics, though I could do without the OTT setting for Reign.

Like awesome heavy metal TOOL OF THE DEVIL, or fire and brimstone with flesh charring for all eternity TOOL OF THE DEVIL?

I like ORE OK, too. My favorite iteration is Nemesis.

I wanted to vote for Unknown Armies or Hong Kong Action Theater!, but they're both a little too old. I haven't seen anything lately that's grabbed me like those did. I think SW is a great table-top game for what it is, but I didn't want to vote for it for some reason. Contrariness, I guess. It doesn't seem new school-y to me.

Limiting myself to games I've played, I'll go with Mythic.

If I allow myself to choose from games that I've read closely enough that I think I have a good idea how I'd play them, then I might choose The Shadow of Yesterday.
