This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Lots of info and comments, including news for 2007 (like dropping GAMA, but going to Games Expo).

I like FanPro, but they just don't seem to get the love as much as they should.

Be aware, that the German Mother Company is indeed in dire straits.
They plan on specializing mostly on novels, cause  everything else isn´t generating enough  cash flow.
They posponed all their releases several months,  publish only a trickle  of Shadowrun products (rumours have it, that they had to pay the last author with gaming books!), and handed over their distribution function to their biggest competitor.

FanPro started out as a distributor. Go figure.

Sett, what you say doesn't match with what I've heard. FanPro.de has released the German translation of every SR4 book so far, and they even publish additional books (München Noir in 2006, SOX in '07). Novels make more money than RPG books, by the way. Just ask WotC.

As to payments, I can tell you from personal experience that, in addition to money, freelancers get a number of free comp copies (like the ones that just arrived today). :)

I have no idea about Germany's distribution channels, so no comments on that one.

Their major flagship, DSA, had all publications postponed several months.
And SR4 still hasn´t got decent Matrix rules, has it?

It has decent Matrix rules. :)

If you're talking about Unwired (the Matrix/Rigging sourcebook), it's scheduled for 2008.
