This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

QuoteJune 6 ,2007: Our lawyer recieved a nice letter from ZeniMax's law firm, stating we had 2 days to remove any references promoting a Fallout PnP from our website, and they do not have any business with GCG since they own all media right to Fallout in any form and do not wish to do business with GCG in any manner.  Also they still calm Interplay never had any rights to license a PNP game to us, refusing to give us prove of their claim, and that Interplay should be the target of our laywer and not them.  Interplay has been silent on this matter so far.

So for now, Fallout PnP is being converted into a generic Post-Apocalyptic d20 that is suitable for any Post-Apocalypse setting.  Use our storyline we are adding or just the general rules and add your own.  We will still include the paranoia of WW2 and the Cold War, along with the 50' science fiction / comic book humor, and world events into our products, as these cannot be claimed as IP.

Our website is under construction being professionally designed by a role-player/web designer and will have a new face and forum (with spam blocker) by the end of the month, for you guy that hate the gray (or brown) background.

Monkey Mountain is delayed since our prototype is still a work in progress, and our prototype designer is busy finishing a 5 foot tall bronze statue (sorry no pictures, it is adult in nature).

Hate to be all happy about this, but...THANK GOD.  Bethesda may have seriously saved the day here.  I'd be a little protective of the IP too, but i saw this coming from day one.

QuotePost Apocalyptic d20 (working title) - Coming Soon

Since the fallout of our prior project, we at GCG are converting that project into a Post Apocalyptic d20 title.  We are creating new IP as we convert the book toward a new goal.

Wow. That is a PAINFUL pun.

And while my phone is an important tool for my daily life, it is not a life-saving device that KEEPS MY HEART FROM EXPLODING. Fuck, Tony. Get your shit together, pal."

I must say I am glad this finally got axed. I love Fallout, but these guys were plainly going to butcher the setting. They showed blatant disregard to the opinions and input of fallout fans. The previews were filled with spelling, grammatical and rules errors. The writing on their website and in the previews was abysmal. They obviously had no clue what they were doing.

I'm normally sad to see a gaming product get axed, but these guys really were about to put out a bunch of crap with the fallout logo on it, so I'm glad they got shut down.

For those of us who want to play fallout d20 there is still Darwin's World as well as a really good fan created free Fallout PDF floating around (way better than what Glutton Creeper was coming out with).

I wasn't really following this story; I'm curious now: what were the guys doing that wasn't respective of the Fallout genre; IOW, what was it that was pissing off the fans enough to make it a good thing that the company isn't going to be making this product?

The whole thing was really sloppy and unprofessional in its approach. That said, Fallout fans are such that whatever you do with the setting, someone will scream and complain.

The issue was twofold.

They would post previews with horrible gramatical, spelling and rules errors, as well as setting information that contradicted Fallout cannon. They then proceeded to ignore fallout fans that tried to point out the setting errors, and ignored d20 fans who pointed out the rules errors.

Also they moderated their forums in a fashion that made rpg.net look like a bunch of anti-fascist freedom fighters. They regularly deleted any thread that said anything critical (even constructive criticism) about the previews or their company's (abysmal) handling of the Fallout property. They abandoned their first forum on a Fallout fan site because they (Glutton Creeper) couldn't moderate it as completely as they wanted, so they moved to their own forum where they ended up deleting so many threads that they ended up with just two or three active threads (from at least 50) eventually shutting it down themselves.

True some of the people on the forums were rude and beligerant, but they deleted any thread containing comments the least bit critical and non-ass-kissing.

Yeah, I was wondering how much longer it would be until this happened, after Bethsoft snatched up the full rights last month or so.

I can't say as I was remotely sad to see it go, and really, I've got the actualy SPECIAL System Fallout PnP rules already, as well as my own game on the way which takes a pretty healthy dose of inspiration from the FO series, especially mechanically, so I didn't really feel the need for yet another half-assed set of D&D houserules, especially for a game where the mechanics were half the fun.

I do too.  It's called Hell On Earth.

Still, I'd have liked to have seen Fallout D20.  Not by these guys, perhaps, but definitely someday.  Fallout's the only game I've got installed on my iBook.

What's remarkable is that the SPECIAL System Fallout PnP was written and designed by folks whose native languages were not English and, remarkably, it reads much better than the Glutton Creeper website.

Actually what surprises me about hearing how crap FOd20 apparently was turning out to be, is that Jason Mical, the writer of the PnP SPECIAL rules, is supposedly on the team at GCG.

It's part of why it isn't being updated in anyway anymore, and the original site is deceased.

I thought Darwin's World was already the default Fallout RPG...

Anyways, my taste in post-ap goes more toward Omega World.

Fallout emerged from Wasteland, which was built from Mercenaries, Spies, and Private Eyes. I think we could do an interesting "Seven Degrees of Mercenaries, Spies, and Private Eyes" if we wanted to.
