This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Fairly recent photo of Steve Jackson. Guy is over 60 and could pass for 35. What gives?

Of course, it could also be Unaging (15 pts)

Ravenswing

... that he's aging well?

Or else he did pop for at least one level.

(I admit I don't charge for Extended Lifespan in my own campaign. :) )
This was a cool site, until it became an echo chamber for whiners screeching about how the "Evul SJWs are TAKING OVAH!!!" every time any RPG book included a non-"traditional" NPC or concept, or their MAGA peeners got in a twist. You're in luck, drama queens: the Taliban is hiring.

Seems fair. Pendragon is the only game I've played where aging could ever have been an issue in play and post character creation.
Currently running: Runequest in Glorantha + Call of Cthulhu   Currently playing: D&D 5E + RQ

That's all coming from sweet, sweet Munchkin money.

Wow, looks almost exactly like he did when I was play-testing "Autoduel Champions" wayyyyy back in the day. Hair not as dark, a couple more pounds, but still...

BTW, if you like Universal Turrets, you're welcome.

Simlasa

I think it's the hair and the happy expression.

James Gillen

This is why they need to come out with that GURPS Steve Jackson supplement.

I, on the other hand, am slowly metamorphosing into Alan Moore.
At least I'm not expanding horizontally, like so many game designers seem to do in their middle age.

Actually it either making all his aging rolls or taking the Longevity advantage which is 5 points ;)

The Butcher

He looks like a positively jolly unaging bastard. I'd definitely grab a beer with this guy.

So would I though I'm mostly a teetotaler.

Now I've never the man but I've done business with his company writer and customer and play-testing. They are solidly professional in every respect.

It is remarkable for a hobby where pretty much everyone else in it ages terribly.

TheShadow

In all honesty, I think the guy probably:
  • Exercises moderately
  • Eats a healthy diet
  • Stays out of the sun
AND
  • Colors the grey out of his hair and beard. The latter takes some doing and it's unusual outside Hollywood. But more power to Steve.

As for me, I'm generally in good health, and I think all wizards start looking similar to each other as they age.  Which is to say, either the odin/gandalf look (myself, Alan Moore), or the Aleister Crowley look (Grant Morrison).
