So, I finally got a playtest of Exalted 2ed Edition. Dunno if anybody else has tried it, if there is another thread, sorry.
I have to say, first off, the book is visually stunning. It loses some of that anime overtone, and goes more for the graphic novel sort of appearance. The artwork (that I saw) was pretty darn cool. I'd write a full review, but I don't have the book yet.
Mechanics-wise, some things were messed around with. Brawl was folded into Martial Arts, and Endurance and Resitance were combined. New attributes, Integrity (measuring mental resitance) and War (measuring group tactics/combat) were added.
Also, combat was revised again, and it uses a "tick" system to measure how people are moving, and a set defense value, rather than opposed rolls, to determine attack rolls. Damage is still basically the same, as near as I could tell.
Charms have been modified in form with these new rules, and the sorcery system has been altered to make it a little more balanced.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the changes, though the combat took some getting used to, and appears to be more work for the ST, it's more efficent and 'realistic' for the players.

Started playing around with it with a group that never played 1st edition. I like the initiative system and it's not as much work as you might think as 90% of all actions take 5 ticks to complete. It is a bit of a hassle though trying to figure out when you can use instant charms based on when you last used a charm but it gets better with experience.
The social combat system helps formalize some of the rules for how hard it would be to convince someone of something based on thier current beliefs, stubbornness, and magical mind control powers.
The perfect defenses now have to be worked around through story means as they don't work if thier virtue condition isn't met but no longer cost willpower.
I used to play a sea-captain Eclipse in 1st Edition, and I love the new sail charms. :hug:

Sail charms = awesome.
The rules for social charms are confusing, but at least they exist in this edition. The combat system is much better, more complex but it moves faster and feels better in play. Fights between exalts are less luck-based than they used to be now which is nice.
