This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm the South China hit -- I live in Hong Kong. I mostly lurk (see my post count for details), which is why you probably didn't know I was around.

OK...so who is in Carpentersville?  I mean, I thought that was me, but I zoomed in and it's way south of me.  Then I thought maybe it's the tower I'm beaming to or something, or maybe the provider's point.  But then I looked at Google Earth, and it's a residential neighborhood.

So come out come out whoever you are...so I can decide if I want to stalk you or not..

Quote from: James J SkachThanks Moriarty! Where do you game? What do you play?  You at the University in DeKalb?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner!

I hooked up with a game group in Batavia two months ago.  Its a weekly game with alternating campaigns; right now we're playing through D&D's Red Hand of Doom adventure and that GM's husband is running an Iron Heroes campaign.

They don't have a strict rotating GM policy but everyone in the group has GM'ed from time to time.  I'm due to GM two Castles & Crusades set in the Wilderlands of High Fantasy games in May.  There's another open GM spot in April that I'm pushing to get a Marvel FASERIP game set in X-Men's Days of Future's Past but I haven't heard any word back on that yet.  I also enjoy indie games, particularly Burning Wheel/Empires and DitV.

@HinterWelt, we met briefly at the prior Gameday (not the one they just had) and I won -- or rather, selected -- a copy of Squirrel Attack.  I'm ashamed to admit that I hadn't read it yet but I will rectify that soon.

I just moved to Dekalb from Minneapolis where I lost my job to live with the folks while I get things straightened out.  I work as a janitor at the university.  I almost got into the gaming group there but I got into an argument with the club's president that boiled down to him stating, "Well I play Chaotic Neutral characters so I'm always in-character when I do stuff like that."  Having learned that these folks really do exist and aren't just internet, storytelling one-upmanship, I decided not to pursue that avenue...

Sweeet.  Are you playing the RDoD as part of the Living Greyhawk rework or straight up D&D?

This is the kind of group I want to get into when I have more time to make a commitment - a group that plays all kinds of things.  I'm underexposed.

What line of work are you in?  Always willing to lend a hand if I can - having just been through, and climbing back out of the un/under-employed gig for four years - especially for fellow gamers.

Its a straight D&D, homebrew campaign world, though you do see "suspiciously" familiar areas such as Hommlet, the Barrier Peaks, etc...

Well most of the variety you'll see in this group is different flavors of d20/OGL.  I know for a fact that at least one member is familiar with Burning Wheel and once I get my GMing legs back, I may offer to run a one-shot or two.

I've been an AS/400 RPG programmer for 8 years (as in Report Program Generator...not the game kind).  And while I'm always willing to listen to job offers; I'm at something of a crossroads...not to get too personal, but right now I'm thinking if I never see another cube-farm in my life it will be too soon.

But like I said, if you happen to come across anything, shoot me a PM and I'll be sure to look into it.  That's very kind of you to offer, thanks!

Wow. Check the map: somewhere in the middle of Russia, Egypt, even southern Chile!

Hehe, Russia is a spambot? ;)

I'm more intreged by the pinpoint on the nornthern Manitoba border (doesn't show on your snap of the map). That's way north of Churchill, MB. I don't have handy any maps of the area good enough to figure out WTF is there. My MB roadmap is buried in my papers somewhere. Not that there would be a road to whatever is there.

Thanks Stuart.  It's nice to see that I'm one of the most geopgraphically distant from anyone else on these boards.  I won't complain too much, I've met some great people here.
