This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Esper the Bard entered the culture war - unarmored

So yesterday Esper the Bard put out an open call to Musk that he would love to help him with D&D and would run a game for him.  Now, is this hubris, a bit.  But, he put up his livelihood on the line to try to get a resource to save D&D.  And frankly, that's about 99.999999999% more than I would be willing to do to save D&D, just being frank.  I'm not risking my livelihood.

It looks like the front hole owners are going after him now.  Because the guy whose going to get the first human colony is "EvUl" and he is a "Drumphf" supporter, and how dare Esper reach out to Musk on social media.  Give him some support in comments and social media is my two cents or buy his wares.  He went from D&D Youtuber to Trump Supporter Bad for the NPC's.  You have to support those who take up arms, its why we lost D&D to the Seattle Race Marxists in the past.

I did see this video. I mean no matter who "owns" D&D I would like to think that people who want to make it better would be willing to work to make it better.

Better for the player base is fun combat and good times and for the DM its having tools to generate a world and run combat.  Essentially open worlds.

Better for the front holes is putting all of their political beliefs into the game, use the game as political indoctrination and remove anyone and anything that takes away from race marxists.  Essentially rail roads + stalin's purges.

WotC is owned by the later, hence the problem.

Even with WoTC owned D&D, people who want the former can still genuinely offer their help to make things better, but they are of course probably going to be rejected out right.

I saw this.  It's a shame that someone like Esper has to take heat for this.

They are going after a very decent father for wanting to make DnD content.  All because... he did not join them in their condemnation of Elon Musk.  It's not enough leave their narrative unchallenged, simply not attacking Musk is grounds for harassment. You have to attack their enemies vocally or you are the enemy.

Just ridiculous. The Wokies really are a bunch of spiteful mutants.

Man at Arms

Esper the Bard has created a ton of YT content, for D&D DMs / Pathfinder GMs to draw upon.  He loves the genre.

Go Esper!!!

Sorry, but this guy is no Conan.

His heart may be in the right place, but he has stuck his foot in this tar baby of a situation and now has to survive it. I'd like Musk to buy Hasbro, but face it, he has bigger things to do which will benefit this nation and humanity in general more than buying a toy company that is sinking itself. I really don't think that this YouTuber knew what he was getting himself into and if he wants to survive and capitalize off of this stunt, he needs to get toughened up and not whine about it.

I don't think a lot of our moral support is going to help in this mess.

EDIT: OK, this guy is a loser. Elon Musk would embarrass himself by associating with this guy. His head is so far up his own ass that HE CANNOT EVEN ADMIT THAT D&D IS JUST A GAME! Esper the Bard comes off as a basement dwelling nerd thrust into the limelight and he cannot handle it. He has turned a game into his religion and desperately needs to get over himself.
"Meh."

Honestly it depends on who gets put in charge of D&D if it ever went officially to someone else other than wotc.

We have seen just how completely and absolutely fucked up the views are of certain OSR gatekeepers.

He is clearly someone who truly loves the game.

He sounds honest. I'm intrigued how this will evolve.
Play according to your principles.

I guess he must have cultivated a horrible audience.
Because in the video I made that essentially did the same thing, all my followers were pretty much cool with it. The worst complaint I got was "I don't want you to stop making your own medieval authentic stuff"!

Esper has 122 thousand subscribers compared to your 8 thousand subscribers, Pundit. So he has fifteen times your audience. You've cultivated a more narrow audience who are aligned with your politics.

He makes lore videos for D&D monsters that apply to a broad audience, you shitpost on RPG's and how race marxists took over WotC to push their degenerate filth on children.  Your audience is people who are sick and tired of WotC's shit, while Esper is everyone.

A lot of everyone in the US goes to government schools and get fed a steady diet of get your dick cut off and call yourself Pauline now in the States.  So there are a lot of commies now compared to the past.

Side note, Gen Z calls the woke people are uglies or stupid and its why they support it.  The kids are gonna be alright.

Man at Arms

It's a different following, for sure.  Esper is one of a few creators, who have boatloads of lore videos.  That's a big net, with which to catch followers from every side of the isle.  Some of them don't agree with him, now.

Pundit's followers are actually listening to his opinions, on various topics.  His enemies, probably don't follow him for very long.

See, this can be explained without being rude to Pundit.  It doesn't require insults.  Different target audiences.

This is Mos Eisley, and Pundit is rude and insulting all the time.

Pundit claimed that Esper's audience was horrible. I think it's fair to point out that Pundit's audience is objectively a tiny fraction of Esper's audience.
