This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Encountered my first blatantly racist player

This is straight up opinion, but IMO, I don't think this works. Black Vulmea tried it before. Either you're here to seriously engage with topics, or not. Switching to trolling when you decide the time for seriousness is over doesn't get communicated, and thus the serious part get painted with the troll brush.

Yeah, I'm a hypocrite, I'm adding more to this thread.

Quote from: SP23 in the thread of the same incident on TBPI knew, weeks ago, when the DM basically hijacked the DM slot from me, that the whole thing would crash and burn quickly, I was just totally unaware of the racist aspect to the whole thing.

No, it wasn't a particularly relevant part of the story, that I knew that the DM would almost certainly crash and burn. It was a known factor.

We are already recruiting new people. It's all for the best, racism aside, I knew without a doubt that the DM's campaign would crash and burn hard, though I wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly.

OK, so the guy who brought your racist to the table also hijacked your DM slot for this game and because of this you already knew that the game would self-destruct, but you went ahead with participating anyways.

Looks like you were butthurt about not getting the chance to DM, and so deliberately got yourself involved in this game session to feel some schadenfreude. The racism part is just an added bit to allow you to short stroke your story across gaming forums in the hope of getting some adulation from the crowd.
"Meh."

Quote from: SP23;1067310I only started trolling when then it didn't happen crowd showed up and started their crack internet investigation. Hey, man. I've been here since Pundie started in 2008. I know exactly what kind of site it's developed into, and sure to be fair, most of my posting is on Pundit's forum, where this thread should have been moved some time ago. I'm fully aware that I'm biased against some of the posters, because I've been reading their bullshit for years.

If you've been here since 2008, why does the Join Date on your profile say May 2017?
"Meh."

Fair enough, and you're right. I'll bow out now. I shouldn't have even posted this here, as how it played out was preordained.

Because Jeff, one could read Pundie's own forum without being registered until May 2017. Don't you remember that Zwiehander asshole, I'm pretty sure that's the reason why.

That would fit in with the fact that the DM and this player were better at gaming than SP23.
Quote from: SP23;1067070While both of them were actually fantastic roleplayers, the best at the table by far, they decided that self-sabotage was the order of the day.
It does make me think that it wasn't self-sabotage at all, but rather a deliberate effort by SP23 to be disruptive.

Yeah, that would also match SP23's pattern of behavior in this thread going from serious to trolling and disruptive when his story was questioned.

Ok, I'll be a hypocrite too. I was the DM prior to Friday night, and even though I knew it would be a shit show, the DM really, really wanted us to take a break from what we were doing and play in his campaign world. I wanted to give him a chance, just because all the warning signs were there, no session zero, minimal communications with the players, a pet player who had been given a radically different idea of what the game was supposed to be, etc..... Doesn't mean he didn't deserve a chance. Plus I never get to play, so I was looking forward to getting the chance.

As far who is a better player, well roleplaying super serious isn't everything. Having fun should be the number one goal. So, fine. You can decide that the 19 year old racist is the better player. I'll go with the person who is a published game developer, and worked at the biggest game company in the world for over a decade. (Before you ask, no you wont' get proof, because that would require me to identify myself, and that's not happening on this site). But hey, you guys can use you're super internet detective skills to ferret it out.

With you getting butthurt over how a few people didn't clap for you?

Decide? I got the idea that both of them were fantastic roleplayers, the best at the table by far, from...you. Be honest with yourself.

They were the best roleplayers at the table. Didn't make for a fun game though. When the DM and 1 player are playing a totally different game than the rest of the table, doesn't matter if their performances are Oscar worthy.

Quote from: SP23;1067312Damn! I'll take my white nationalist David Duke defender any day over an ISIS weirdo. Shit......

For sure, but I'm kinda getting tired of dealing with losers like that. Just last month, one dude showed up with a NAMBLA pamphlet and a copy of FATAL. I'm sure not up for trying to reform that sicko, though. Still, maybe it wouldn't hurt to know how the equitable people of this thread would deal with him. Maybe even someone that low can still listen to reason.
