Title: EN World-Is It Just Me
Post by: Malladin on December 30, 2007, 11:20:33 AM
Okay, I see EN World going the way of TBP- 4E Swine, in this case, driving away anyone whose opinions they don't want to hear through aggressive, insulting and dismissive postings, which deliberately ignore points they have no answers too, with tacit support from mods. Now even the site owner is posting to put down anti 4E comments. Your opinions. And thank goodness for a place where I can ask this.

I´m partial.
But I know I´ve basically stopped reading ENWorld postings.
I just read the scoops these days.

OTOH, the tone of the Paizo boards is terrible too, just 180° reversed.

I don't think it's possible to have a 4E discussion on ENWorld. It's more like fencing about stupid ass word definitions and dodging strawman arguments, one after the other.

I also do think that the ENWorld owner has vested interests in his partnership with WotC as to bring up the latest "news" about 4E. He just cannot be objective on the issue.

I don't think Morrus has made it any secret that he wants the 4e design team to be able to post at EN World without being dogpiled. That's one reason for the stricter moderation in the 4e forum. I have seen that there has been some concern that the moderation has been more heavy-handed across the board, but this has been, and is being, discussed over at Circvs Maximvs in the "Asshattery Afoot at EN World" mega-thread. Morrus and some of the mods have joined in the discussion, and have been fielding questions about the whys and wherefores of the current policy in that thread, and I think you might get more feedback there.

I generally stay away from the EN World 4e forum, simply because the game hasn't come out yet and most of what is being discussed - and often, argued about shrilly - is pure speculation rather than anything substantive. I just don't get how so many seem to have such strong opinions one way or the other about something about which so little is known, and where what is known is subject to change. I have misgivings about 4e, but I'm willing to wait and see how it all hangs together before starting the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I am not seeing it, and I am strongly anti-4e. Just ignore the posters who will crap all over D&D - any edition of it - because Wizards of the Coast put out something new.

Seriously, I'd love to see a quote like this.  That seems way uncharacteristic of Russ.
