This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Armchair Gamer

Quote from: RPGPundit;789683All of the above, in differing doses.  As someone pointed out, these aren't really exclusive, and if you play a full multi-year-long campaign odds are the gaming group will move gradually from one style to another.

All of them? Really? I would have thought P&P and Sp&Si would bear the Mark of the Swine at least.  ;)

If "Spell and Sim" is supposed to be like Harnmaster and Rolemaster, and that's supposed to be "what 3e turned into out in the wild"...

Sweet Jesus Fuck do you know absolutely nothing about Harnmaster, Rolemaster, or "Rules as Physics Engine" systems, none of which are close to 3.5 in the wild, which was Grids & Gishes, CR & CharOp, or whatever.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

This is what they have in common: They crawled so deep up their own arses they found themselves coming back out the mouth again.

Quote from: noismsI get depressed, suicidal and aggressive when nerds start comparing penis sizes via the medium of how much they know about swords.

Quote from: Larsdangly;786974An encounter with a weird and potentially life threatening monster is not game wrecking. It is the game.

Currently panhandling for my transition/medical bills.

Yeah, because God forbid anyone click on a link, ever.

Especially one preceded by "go read it."

Men of higher wisdom like the RPG Pundit are freed from the basic necessities of research to know what they're talking about, just as they are cut off from common pleasures. Theirs is a high and lonely destiny.

Being a feeble-brained simpleton given to the ungentlemanly habits of curiosity and checking one's sources, I am unable to relate.
