This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: mAcular Chaotic;1131995That's not true. The cop in question wasn't arrested until people were rioting for practically five days. It took that much outrage for something to finally happen.

Most jurisdictions, when a police officer is accused of a crime there is a very specific process they have to go through. For example, some cities don't allow the officer to be questioned within less than 48 hours (often more), and then once they've had a chance to be advised by their union rep. The city went ahead and fired all four officers, but in many cases in which that happens, the union will also intercede and 'undo' it.

The outrage wasn't a necessity for this.

Right now, the city has to figure out what to charge the other officers with.

Typically there is an internal affairs investigation that has to conclude prior to any criminal investgation.  But let's face it, in today's America the masses just want to hang people due to public opinion without due process.

How many thousands or tens of thousand do you think BLM protestors, looters and arsonists will kill through their spreading of COVID-19?

Quote from: HappyDaze;1131933What's illegal about it. Those are their badges, based on their rules. They can pretty much just freely award whatever they want since those don't really mean anything.

Here's the problem. In the USA, you can't racially discriminate in business. DriveThruRPG has a system where sales grant points which can then be used by the publisher to access marketing and promotion options. Additionally, the copper/silver/gold badges are important sales tools because many consumers believe popularity equals quality.

Thus, if you are granting greater financial access to one group based on their skin color, you are automatically discriminating against others and tilting the financial scales based on skin color. That's a legal no-no.

Far less than the number who will die from the mob violence.

"DriveThruRPG Supporting BLM"
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Circumstances are rarely ideal.

As for the question the protests will aggravate the Covid pandemic. Unfortunately the emotions and issues that arise as a result of the killing of George Floyd are not a thing where one goes "Oh lets put a pin in this.".

The excuse given for some of the most repeated worst atrocities in history. These riots will accomplish nothing except hurting a bunch of innocent people because shit bags have a memory of a broken 1970s computer and can't get that through their heads.

Why is the crime of George Floyd more important then the robbery, arson and assault commited by the protesters?

Quote from: trechriron;1131941I support Black Lives Matters. I don't care if one bad apple was found in the bunch, there's a pile of bad apples in the Police. Are all police bad now that there are bad police? Nope. Are all priests bad because there are bad priests? Nope.

I support Black Lives Matters because I'm angry at the treatment of black people in America. It's not complicated.

No it isn't, for you.

I'm pretty concerned where and how my money is being spent when I donate it. It isn't just Black Lives Matter, it is Black Lives Matter Foundation Incorporated. They are a business, but they are not a non-profit 501(3)c. They are also only six years old. So how is money that is donated to them spent? What percentage is used for overhead? How much gets to the people they are trying to help?

You and estar can use your IP and spend your money however you like. My take on this is that if you really want to help out blacks in America,  then your donations of money might be better spent on the NAACP or the UNCF although neither is topical in the media right now.

And last, but not least - I'm really sick and tired of seeing my hobby get used more and more for political gain.
"Meh."

It's almost like you knew this was coming after your ridiculously uninformed posts on COVID-19...the progressives have really figured out how to manipulate large groups of people.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

I sympathize with Floyd's family. What happened to him is not correct and justice will be done. HOWEVER, the outrage surrounding his death is being used to promote violence and looting. He's family already told people to stop and rioters won't listen. I think we need the army in NY, PA, and DC ASAP. All they're doing is destroying, burning and looting. This won't help with the reform they're demanding, it will only increase racial tensions. I'm not taking part in this charity because I can't trust BLM. It's like adding fuel to the fire. I love America, these people are destroying everything people worked hard for. That's not right!

Not complicated, but utterly contradictory. Black Lives Matter promotes the very specific, and demonstrably false notion that police officers across the U.S. are engaged in genocide of black people. The narrative of the movement is in fact that which you start off saying yourself is wrong: that police in general are bad and racist.

That you identify your anger as the cause of support is the most telling part here, because it's precisely that media-stoked anger that erases any hope of rational thought, and leads to things like defending obvious contradictions.

All I gotta say is, the same retards who scream 'abolish the police' and 'ACAB' are the same kind of people who will scream for protection when someone robs them blind.

Back on topic: I just want to say thanks to the OP -- it's definitely great to know which companies would send my money along to BLM and other political organizations.

I think this has happened already. Sadly I don't have a link to share but maybe I'll run across it again.
