This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Okay. So to get back to the subject: The chick is kinda hot. She could draw me touching her... head... anytime.

Blackleaf

Stefan Pokorny, the younger half-orc playing DM and CEO of Dwarven Forge had this to say about the documentary just last month:

Quote from: Stefan Pokorny3-4 years ago I was approached by a filmaker (Jesse Spiro) who was creating a documentary on Dungeons and Dragons...

at that point in time I was in the middle of a severe deadline to complete the Gladiator Arena for presentation at the Paizo Publishing booth at the Origins gaming convention in Ohio...I was completely freaked out and stressed...I knew i wouldn't make it on time unless I took drastic measures...I hired a bunch of "fine art" sculptors (and a jeweler) and trained/directed them to help me in order to make the deadline...we had 10 days...

my personal life was in shambles...my drinking was out of control...

Jesse Spiro came and hung around and filmed the whole process...

He also came and attended a Dungeons and Dragons session I ran a few weeks later...

since the film I have cut my hair, stabalized my drinking (I'm pretty hung over during most of the shots) and gotten married to the most wonderful woman in the world...

My Mother and my Wife hate the film, my dad shakes his head, friends laugh, and I am just embarrased....so I guess it was a smashing success...

Quote from: SosthenesI'm not saying that it really bothers me that much, but I definitely see some of that "moral" influence in Dragonlance. Part of the reason why I'm not that fond of the setting, as I prefer sword & sorcery to good vs. evil epics...

Well, ok, but not really moreso of an influence than what you find in Tolkien. We're not talking about "Left Behind" here, or even "Narnia".

That's the reason I wrote "moral" instead of "Christian". It is a slight influence and I can definitely live with that. I enjoyed the first three Dragonlance novels and can't wait to hear Kiefer Sutherland voicing Raistlin next year...

But there are definitely some traces there. I haven't detected as much (or actually anything at all) from Gygax. Probably because he likes his Sword & Sorcery too much for that ;)
