Diversity & Dragons throws Ginny Di under the bus, rightfully so

Actually, I just gonna say it.  This is a weak filler episode for Diversity and Dragons.  I love the guy but this was a "I don't have a decent script" moment for him.  Honestly, this is just him kicking a puppy for interwebz.

Ginny Di herself is a coomer sponge I doubt has any more experience with D&D than her time on CR.  She's a kind of cute but getting old girl that makes shitty fluff pieces for YouTube fame and fortune and one bad payday away from LonelyFans.

The thread should really be about getting Diversity and Dragons to apologize to us for mentioning her and giving us better content.    :P

Well I don't even have any idea who the hell Ginny Di is or why I should care about what she thinks of anything so I count myself lucky.

I 100% am in agreement: who the fuck is she wand why should I care?

YouTuber who does some vids on gaming. Some RPG related. Some not. Has a nice presentation and uses costumes A-LOT.

Personally I found some of her gaming advice to be not all that great. And others to be fairly on target. So about average.

Literally who?

She is a cosplayer who plays D&D and gives gaming advice.   Well, basic advice we already know.

And some not very good advice on some things.

I'll say this. She has the right idea on how to make a rather good presentation. Her pieces are at least interesting to watch and listen to. Unlike some other people who do not quite hit the mark.

Problem is her biases bleed through and occasionally mar her point. So this little blow-up was inevitable.

Her fans will absolve her and forget it even happened in a few days.

It's like she watched all the other D&D youtubers and read their Reddit threads and then created her vid regurgitating their material.  If you have the stomach for it, go look at the dates her videos were posted and then go look at the vids a few days to a few weeks before hers by other YTers.  It will be enlightening.   ;D

While you're at it, look up the D&D superstar Satin Phoenix and her amazing contributions to the hobby.  They are cut from different ends of the same cloth.

I swear that for 15 seconds I thought she was Maisie Williams parodying the average blue-haired DM.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.

Solid article, well researched to prove a point she hates Christians and Republicans.  It makes her toxic, harder for WotC to leverage to sell their schlock.  Its called a culture war for a reason.  Start cutting down WotC's culture warriors when solid proof of hatred of their customers has been presented.  It makes future presenters to understand the consequences of hating on customers.  Ask Bud how its going for them.

I really did mean my post to be humorous.  I actually agree with you that undoing the little pieces affects the whole.

Never watched her content but the faces she makes and titles made me set her to don't recommend channel on YouTube. Everytime her face shows up in a search I report her for something new.

Just her face is enough to tell me all I need to know without watching the content.

1. You shouldn't care who Ginny D is;
2. You shouldn't care about the amateur video linked in this thread either.

Come on dude that video was a weak hack job he phoned in because he had nothing to cover this time and needed clicks. And no, he's not going to impact Ginny's audience and he gets about 2000 views to her 200,000 views concerning a game with literally millions of players now. There is zero overlap there or meaningful impact.

Not that you should care about Ginny D, but that guy is pathetic trying to get clicks off Ginny with amateurish lazy effort without a single original thing to say and extremely shoddy production work that would have been embarrassing over a decade ago much less now with cheap good equipment and tech available to everyone. "Well researched?" He typed "Ginny D Republican" in a Twitter search and screen shotted the results. What a loser.

And again, Ginny is no winner either, and I wouldn't watch her or care what she thinks. But that you think that was a worthwhile effort is sad. Pundit runs rings around that guy in terms of quality, and that's just a camera pointed at some books and a cat sometimes!

yeah her hot takes are crap and she's used by WotC as a mouthpiece.  Spread some of her words against her, she earned it.  She hates Republicans and Christians, well that is a lot of D&D and MTG customers.  Not a smart move on her part and not a smart move for Hasbro to use her.

Theory of Games

Hm.

Diversity & Dragons has about 2k subs.

Ginny d has about 500k subs.

Looks like jealousy and even if it isn't she's way too big for him. Don't people understand how unprofessional hit pieces like that are? That's why his channel is so tiny: he isn't focused on a brand like Ginny d is.
At the end of the day, small minds = small results.

TTRPGs are just games. Friends are forever.

Interesting. I don't watch much of Youtube in general, but I tried watching a few Ginny Di videos after some regulars here supported her in a thread from last December.

I've watched Ginny Di's YouTube videos for a few years now. She's sweet, cute, and funny. I certainly don't agree with her on everything, but she seems cool and sincere. Basically a nice, sweet, chirpy gamer girl.

A girl into costuming and then got into D&D and does videos about it. DM advice, player advice. Ideas for combining costuming with RPGs and also just normal gaming stuff like painting minis.

Her vids are well made overall and while I do not agree with some advice or some viewpoints, I think she is doing ok with it so far.

I actually have some experience of this woman in that my partner has interacted with her. My partner is a cosplayer, I know there are a lot of fake geek girls in cosplay but my partner is perfectly normal and likes pen and paper RPGs just as I do. Giny personally gave her some advice to help her with the Tik Tok and instagram algorithms and produce better content. It was really detailed and informative advice too. She went to a lot of effort to help my partner. And we were both very grateful for it. I can't tell you whether she's fake but she did a good thing for my partner which she really didn't have to do. We've both interacted with actual fake geek girls and they've always been dreadful narcissists and very unpleasant to be around. Especially at cons. I didn't get that vibe from Ginny at all. She seemed alright. So I think she's genuine.

They didn't do much for me, but then, I don't follow any other online RPG videos either. I find the video format terrible for most RPG advice.

This was the old thread on her:

I don't care about this Sunny D person, but it's a sad fact that dudes will act like simps over chicks.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.
