This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

They're gorgeous, but in actual play I routinely found such character sheets a hassle to use.

They often short change space that gets heavy use, or extensive lists. They often grant large white space to unusual things, ones that are often rarely touched (see: Language space in this topic's first example). They run up your printer ink bill, or don't come out well unless on high quality paper. The beautiful art bleeds into visual discernment, so things often end up hidden amid things vying for your attention in the middle of play. Beautiful fonts being more visual than useful. Et cetera.

I found these are better for finished character sheets. You know the ones where the retired (or beloved dead) PC gets a full, clean sheet with inked final tallies. And then you have to find a calligrapher, or someone with half-decent handwriting...

They're beautiful, but it's more finished product land for me than utility. Near photo quality with a good calligrapher (maybe framed?) might be a nice gift for a grognard and some of their old, retired PCs, though.
Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

In actual play, I tend to use index cards. These are more like rpg inspirational art. I could see a very well designed character sheet being used as an advertisement for a game.

Numenara, I think.  It might be The Strange, but it's one of the two.

Yeah, all-caps Blackletter is really not good typography. Change It To Initial Caps Only and it'd be way easier to read.

Yeah, that'd be totes terriblé if that were ever to happen to anyone.

That new choice of font is strange, because when Tony DiTerlizzi sold print packs of those character sheets at his booth in the artist alley at GenCon (Milwaukee) they had a different font:

Swords & Wizardry & Manga ... oh my.
(Beware. This is a Kickstarter link.)

odd

fuck you software i wanna make a post that just says odd what gives you the right to deny that from me
If your having tier problems i feel bad for you son i got 99 problems but caster supremacy aint 1.

Apology\'s if there is no punctuation in the above post its probably my autism making me forget.

rawma

Odd.

Edit: Apparently it's quite happy with such a short post if you use an uppercase letter and punctuation.

Numenera.

Edit: Ah, the images from the first page stretched the page. I didn't realize this thread was more than one page and already answered.

Is that irony? Its...something. And it amuses me.

Maybe they're not the final designs. i have to say though, I had no trouble whatsoever reading them.

I generally strongly prefer functionality to artistic merit when it comes a character sheet.   Some of the ones shown here are both, but a few seem to be awkward in terms of actual utility just to look nice.

But anyways here's a link to the Arrows of Indra character sheet, which I think is pretty snazzy.
