This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That is quite a valid point.  I hadn't considered that.  I do recall watching various people joining the forum, not because they loved the games and wanted to expand their "monkeysphere."  Rather, they joined to be cheerleaders or supporters for someone who was an existing member.

It was further worsened when Tangency was split up into different "specialty" forums.  That really made it clear that there were "gamers," "music/media" lovers, "miniatures lovers," and whatever.  But there was always "Tangency."  That festering pit of degenerates who sucked up to the mods and created clique after clique in a hugh popularity contest that sucked the very life out of the site.

What's really sad is to realize that Tangency became the Junior High School and High School experiences that the bulk of the "in clique" of Tangency never got to experience because they were too geeky to be admitted when they were in those immature levels of education.

And they treated those outisde their cliques with the same disdain, indifference and bald-faced hatred as they received, magnified by their own perceptions of import and reinforced by the moderators (who were often in collusion with or "members" of the same cliques).

Yeah.  I want this place to be open and welcoming for gamers who want to discuss our hobby and other stuff.  Non-gamers aren't scorned, but their presence is unwelcome in this particular internet space.

I'm pleased to see that the mere mention of her name can still make a person's day.
