Title: Did WotC do a Racism in the Starter Set?
Post by: RPGPundit on March 06, 2025, 05:50:42 PM
The new 2024-Dungeons & Dragons starter set is full of woke elements, but strangely their most important art piece appears to be very... stereotyped.

So are you getting Mearls or not for a show?  Mearls has been dropping bombs over Hasbro lately.  You can tell he's pissed from how he got removed from a successful game he created.  Just saying man, remember the debates and how Kamala got Trump pissed by criticizing his rally's?  I think Mearls is moving into that direction now watching WotC do everything he wouldn't do.

Even for your rant videos, this one was pretty dumb. You've made some entertaining ones in the past, but this was a dud.

Greetings!

Good video, Pundit. YES! It is always good to highlight the Woke morons and the terrible propaganda filled slop that they produce.

More terrible, Marxist art from WOTC.

More terrible game design from WOTC.

More terrible writing from WOTC.

More degeneracy being promoted by WOTC.

I'm not surprised though. This is "The Stupid Train". It just keeps rolling on, always getting more stupid and more absurd as time passes. The Woke Communists at WOTC are absolute degenerates, which cascades down into everything they do.

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

The left is anti-racist in the same manner as antimatter is the opposite of matter.

Yeah, I don't see anything I would realistically call racism in it. If anything, I think it feels like it was written by Chat-GPT because there's no creative meta-awareness of the stereotypes behind the decisions. The creators just followed the path of least resistance, which was to loosely follow stereotypes using a diversity checklist. It isn't racist so much as really minimum effort.

I don't know. Of course I'd be glad to have him on, but we haven't actually communicated since early after the Consultantgate business.

Fortunately, you clearly don't represent the mainstream view. The video has been performing very well.

By their own rules, "sterotypes" are racist. And they (consciously or subconsciously) assigned each race (and gender) on the cover to stereotypical qualities.

That might tell you something about your 'mainstream' viewers.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with that. SJW Morality Firmware versions 2016 and newer are not internally consistent. But the thing is they aren't really trying to be, either. They're about allowing them to make a mess wherever and whenever they want.

If you stick to more sensible definitions of stereotypes and racism--definitions which are not intended to be unwinnable debate traps--then just including a stereotype doesn't equate to racism. The correct move here is to point out how all products always run afoul of these useless morality mandates because they aren't actually about morality. They're about the power to make meaningless internet drama.

They probably did by SJW standards but I think SJW standards about what is and isn't racism are ridiculous and entirely instrumental.

I think the difference in this case is that the creators of these products have intentionally engaged in an agenda with their art to try to "punish" regular gamers for their "Racism!"; while everything they do is a kind of racial pandering.

It's entirely valid to show just how much they are engaging in sterotypes, which is an inevitable quality of people who believe in CRT.
