This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Who needs Gamescience dice again? I could call Lou, to see if he has any. He might know where to get some too.

They are not in production at the moment. Was looking for sets of old style d20's last weekend, you know... 0-9 twice, uninked on a solid colored die. Noble Knight games had some precision black inked white d20 like this, but not much else.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

Quote from: J Arcane;752910Zocchi had licensed out the brand to a shady gambling dice company who proceeded to do such a monstrously shit job producing them that they were taken off the market and the rights were taken back by Zocchi, but he has yet to find a new producer for them.

I have GS dice, and they are indeed pretty shit. Serious production flaws like underfilled molds, warping, and untrimmed sprue connections. I was most displeased. I have not bought anymore since.
That was Gamestation.net.  The early ones were ok, I think they were selling Zocchi's backstock first, but then the new ones had lots of flaws.  I will hand it to them though, they always replaced the dice no questions asked, no return of the dice necessary.  I think they decided just sending new dice if someone asked for it was cheaper then quality control/inspection.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Quote from: Celestial;753144Thanks for the recommendations, y'all.  Yeah, GameScience dice seem to be difficult to find right now.  Certain colors are entirely sold out on thediceshoponline.com.  I like the look of the Chessex frosted dice though, and I think between a couple of sets of those, a bucketful of D6s (Shadowrun, 'nuff said), and a dice cup I should be fine.

Don't forget to buy a large bottle of Crown Royal to toast your new dice with and to provide a nifty dice bag.

I've got a load of brilliant little mini storage crates (You could probably find them at any hobby/crafting store or your local large supermarket), which are brilliant for putting sets of dice in - they can easily fit like 36d6, or 10d10, or a polyset, or whatever, and I've got a few sets of 'em around my desk made up for all the games I'm playing at the moment, so they're easy to grab at game time.

plastic beakers are even cheaper .....

I was stunned by how shitty the Gamescience-DCC-variant dice I got were.  They were just useless.
I'm glad that fortunately, I can just use the Crawler app for all my weirdo dice needs.

They really do make the perfect dice bag. I don't think I have ever even had a drop of crown royal, yet I have three or four crown royal bags lying around for dice and other gaming items.

Apparition

Just as an update for anyone that cares, I have the dice and the dice cup.  I don't drink, but I was able to secure a new Crown Royal bag from a distributor.  I should have it in a few days. :D

Anything from Gamescience looks shitty even from just looking at pictures of it. I really don't get the appeal. The pseudoscientific sales pitch doesn't help either.

I thought it was part of the charm.

Lots of sad stories about how the company making Gamescience after Col. Lou apparently just didn't do a good job with it. That's a shame--I love mine. DCC seems like a prime opportunity for folks to check them out, and it sounds like the producers of them flubbed it completely.

Mine were full of extra little bits on the corners, or flaws in the mold; meaning that all the boasting about rolling-precision is just utter bullshit.

Shit, even the fact that they have to be painted would mean that all their nonsense about perfect balance would be completely ruined; unless someone used a machine to make sure they painted each side with absolute precision and the same weight.
