This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dice I'd like

It was a marble table and apparently the die had a small bubble inside. So one corner of a D20 broke off after a failed saving throw too much...

I still want a big D20 bean bag to sit upon and a rubber D20 as the punishing end of a morning star...

Quote from: Dominus NoxMy god, didn't people learn anything form the late 70's/early 80's when dice were made of glass?
Nope.

For an idea I'm working on, or at least I've been kicking around...

A set of dice with an RFID inside that, once rolled, sent a radio signal of the number rolled, thereby allowing a computer to pick it up.

Gives you the happiness of rolling dice with a connection to a computer system.

And get this - the idea is patented.

Hmm, how do you determine the number rolled? Without some sort of gyroscope, I'd imagine you'd have to use a special surface to roll 'em on.

James J Skach

Trust me, I thought I'd patent it and make a million.  I did a quick search and found it.  I'll see if I can find the link.

No gyroscope, just a sensor a couple of sensors with some kind of liquid maybe?

Like I said, I'll see if I can find the patent.

Ah, mercury or some stuff like that. That would make these dice potential bomb-building material ;)

Quote from: Dominus NoxOk, the thing is I just know someone is making dice out of stone again.

Crystal Caste has a variety of stone dice.

Also, here's an interesting (if very pricey) dice site: Q Workshop. There are tons of cool looking dice. Although, I ordered some and they aren't of great quality. I was disappointed.

I thought I had it bookmarked, but I had to go find it.  Ever searched for patents? Man they need a new method.

Anyway, it seems abstract, but here it is...
