Well, the guys at the Indie Panel(s) did suggest visiting the RPG Forums, though no one specified which ones other than to give me a bunch of names such as 'The Forge', 'Story Games', and this one, among a few others which I forget at the moment.   There was no specific, "you should go to theRPGSite" thing.  However, since I had signed up for this one earlier, and posted a thread (which I had forgotten about when I said, "this is my first post") I decided to post here, mostly in the hopes of reconnecting with those guys, not knowing that this is the land of Anti-Indie.  My bad, in a way.  I should have done some RECON first, but it didn't occur to me I might need to.  Oh well.

Yes, I attended two panels.  The second one was on Game Design, though I didn't see any specific "Forge" tag associated to it.  I wouldn't know, frankly.  I'm not familiar enough with Forge, or any of the factions to be able to tell the difference at this point.  I'll keep at it though, and maybe I'll get the hang of it.

I did.  It was great that people there focused on helping me think through some tough questions about my game design.  I appreciate their efforts, and understood that they were actually trying to help me think about my design ideas.   It was, in fact, very helpful.

That is a matter of timing.  The fact is that I went to my first Con, DexCon 10, this weekend, and had a great time, and wished to interact with the RPG Design community.  I had no clue about the factions and now I do.  Ok.  I am pretty sure that some of you will continue to harbor some suspicions about me and my "intentions" here.  Oh well.  I blew it.  

For the record (again):  I'm no more pro-Indie than I am anything else.  I'm exploring the domain, and not a member of any faction.  I'm just here to learn.  Period.  Yup, some of you guys are going to continue to accuse me, I get it.  I think I'll just lurk around and see if I can glean useful info here anyway.  And for those who sent links for me to follow - thank you.  I appreciate it and will do so.

Well, they are certainly not at liberty to protest there. They just get the promotional propaganda that's fed to them, whether they like it or not.

I'm not saying they don't all like it, either. Apparently there really is the sort of person who hangs on in this hobby specifically because he's been told that buying the right game makes him a better person.  And plus, he can play demos of it 4 times a year at conventions!

As for what forgie would care? Take a look how quickly they showed up.

And finally, the RPGsite does not have a "general" hatred- at least not any more than the forgies have a "general" hatred against regular gamers or themselves.  If one statement is true, than both are.

Now, certain people here have a very specific issue. You want us to shut up? Acknowledge these truths.

Maybe we should set up a board of special members that protect the rights and tender feelings of innocent propagandists.

They could see, that Forgers are protected and may not be attacked, so they can propagandize as much as they want.

This way, theRPGsite will be way more inclusive.

If only it were confined to threads like these. Nope the same "war" shite is flung about in most other threads. You can't talk about rpgs without making some sort of statement or taking a stand. I stopped trying to promote this site, because frankly most of the folks I know are not interested in wasting time getting into brawls about games.

Well, Richeson, the fact is that the thing you describe ("all new users are attacked") just isn't happening. However if someone were to specifically show up to promote those forgie fucks here, I'm going to take a bite.  This is just as much to discourage future stealth promotion here as it is to send a message that their shit is unacceptable elsewhere.

I'm seriously convinced that most of the retarded forgie idiocy we've seen over the years is a direct result of nobody letting them know these things.

You have the word indie in your title and folks around here get jumpy. Then we have AM coming out slugging and then Sett...the order isn't that important. Anytime someone posts about games that these wankers don't like there is going to be trouble. Clear enough Tony?
