This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Incidentally, since the matter of player empowerment was already mentioned, this is an interesting little tidbit that reminds me of the "always/never say yes/no" debates of yore.

OMFG! That thread snippet was three ways of pathetic, icluding hints of wishful thinking and conspiracy.

I declare this thread to be ready:

Some people still wonder why we don't get that many new posters. It's becoming a bit xenophobic here guys. :(

Very interesting link... three clicks there and one is reading about intellectual shallowness of Forge games... good job man! :p

Xenophobic? Seriously... read his first message again. One have to be brain damaged to not see the implication of "indie games/gamers" being better (more creative etc.) than a common gamer.

Calling it like I see it, a propaganda poster.

I think you mean post 7.

I don't buy the innocence defence myself either; it's happened one or two times too many for my money, to be sincere. But if everyone gets chased away who has different views, this so called 'war' isn't any such thing. It's just two lines of people shouting insults at each other over no-man's land. No chance to get the bayonet out and get stabby with it.

Yeah. Sorry. I really meant post 7.

Quote from: One Horse TownBut if everyone gets chased away who has different views, this so called 'war' isn't any such thing.

Acutally I am pretty much trying not to chase anyone except for that kind of people, that claims they are somehow better because of this game of that theory or whatever. If you like some game I don't, I can live with that. We can have a good talk about that also.

Don't be so sure about it... I was very close to murder on one con, when once indie-fan claimed that only indie games are source of all inovations in RPG. I asked him for examples and than "politely" point him to commercial games using these concepts before. He wasn't very happy... but that is quite common if you have so great blind spot. Luckily it didn't ended in bloodshed... ;)

1) I think Luke may wish to reconsider the use of terms such as "mouth breathers" and "knuckledraggers". Bottom line- those guys aren't that fucking cool. Does nobody even shave anymore? Geez.

2) It seems amazing to me, that he showed up.. here, to promote that. I *do* think the original poster is innocent. But I also think he was put up to it. I think someone told him "hey, you should post your pictures over on the RPGsite,...", with the unspoken idea that since none of us recognize the guy, and the guy himself doesn't realize what's going on, it'll be a PR win for the forgies.

3) I don't think he should be chased away, but it is extremely fucked up. And by the way, did I get this right? There was a forgie "design" panel, and all of one guy showed up. And this is that guy. Is this correct?

4) If so, this guy must have gotten a lot of direct interaction. And he's already stated that he was told specifically why the forgies were so "different".

Was this actually a "game design" panel at all?

Again, why here? Why now? And look how quickly the interventionists showed up... I bet some IM's went flying yesterday.

I am not sure how many people will grasp the joke, but it is the good one indeed. Thirty years war began in Bohemia (currently Czech republic) by defenestration of catholic councillors from the windows of Prague castle (not far from where I live).

That's difficult to believe, considering the greeting he has received.  Besides, what Forge user would care?  theRPGsite's general hatred of, well, everyone is well known.  It's not a place I'd expect folk to market, especially where there are much better uses of their time like RPG.net.

I think you're confusing half a dozen or so posters with the site, mate.

Edit: Well, i finally had a look at the pictures. Looks like it was fun. You didn't tell us that it was such a star-studded event though! Ray Mears is in picture 7 and Abu Hamza in picture 10! (P.S google 'em!)
