Title: Desperate choices in a crisis
Post by: cavalier973 on June 11, 2022, 12:39:45 PM
Times are hard, and getting harder.

Suppose you run out of toilet paper, and the only available alternative is your collection of TTRPG manuals and adventures.

Which books do you use up first?

All the OSR first, not because it's bad, but because it tends to be matte printing. The glossy full color paper is less good for wiping.

I'll use the glossy stuff for fire starting.

Free League's stuff last, I think.

You could always try water and soap. Unless you have no water, then you have a lot worse problems than running out of toilet paper.

None

Your choices are dubious and nonsensical. If I really needed to clean my ass after taking a shit and had to toilet paper, then I have a perfectly good shower not 3 feet (1 meter) away from the toilet.

Huh.

Well, suppose, then, you have nothing left to use for a cook fire—having turned all your furniture and your house and your paper towels and all your clothes and anything else flammable into ashes—excepting your ttrpg books. You expect a shipment of firewood from Amazon to your makeshift aluminum siding lean-to any day now. Which books do you use first to cook your beans & rice?

Great honk.

I have an axe and know how to swing it. Plenty of trees and wooden houses that I can use for firewood. I won't even go in to the idiocy of setting fire to my own shelter in order to cook beans and rice.

Fuck you and your bullshit choices. As an adult with a brain, I can create options to avoid the ones I find repulsive like the ones you are providing.

So...Vampire: The Masquerade, then?

I wouldn't even allow such a piece of crap into my house. Let alone burn it for cooking. Damn thing would probably poison my food with its toxic fumes.

If you won't be satisfied until I burn something, I'll burn my tax records for the last 10 years.

You know, I must say this is actually a remarkable reply to the OP.  I get he was making a joke but your reply was still on the mark.

A good reply might be to choose the stuff you bafe in print and pdf, but your reply valid too.

Edit.  Just saw your post Re VtM.  ROTFLMFAO!!!!

I purchased three Evil Hat books before discovering their uber-wokeness. So those.

TBH, I've considered doing that anyways, but am very anti book burning.
