Yanno, I hadn't thought about it that way, but you're right on that.

That's a shame John. A simple apology for the stunt that has fucked some of the posters here off would have at least been a start. I guess sorry really is the hardest word.

It's true that shit-flinging in a forum does not make you tough. But by the same token, being unable to take the shit flung in a forum makes you a real wuss.

You cannot say, "you're not tough for flinging shit, it's just words on a screen," then turn around and say, "but words on a screen can hurt!" Either words on a screen matter, or they don't.

I would say that they matter, but not a lot. When presented with insults, Wick responded happily. When presented with matters of substance, Wick responded with abstractions; when pressed on the matters of substance, he ran away.

His buddy Sorensen, by contrast, would just keep up the insults! And would run away, but without announcing it first. Why did Wick announce it? Strange. I never understood the need to announce you're leaving a forum.

Serious response: this is really disappointing. John's first post was an angry snarl, but his second post showed a lot of promise, but then he degenerated into angry snarling. His posts were becoming more and more rapid towards the end there - I suspect if he hadn't cut himself off we'd have seen a real meltdown on his part.

That doesn't mean Unheilig was wrong to be pissed off, my impression is that John Wick did let people down badly, though the whole theft angle seems pretty unlikely to me.  Possibly Enemy Gods was in part a new development of the original idea, but that wouldn't be theft, just having another try at realising something.

I have mixed views on John Wick, and he has been a dick on rpg.net particularly with the scam thread thing, but I don't see him as a thief and I don't think there's any particularly good evidence in favour of that.

Also, Cat is by and large a pretty good game, the few things in it I dislike are matters of personal taste rather than quality.  To take things back on topic, my view that JW was a dick on the rpg.net scam thing and my (possibly incorrect) view that he badly let people down on the Primeval thing didn't get in the way of my buying Cat when it caught my interest.  I buy games on their merits, and it takes more than that to really put me off.  Frankly, short of suggesting that by introducing people to Vampire I am committing an act comparable to child abuse I struggle to think what would make me not buy from someone.

Oh, just remembered, that brain damage thread?  John Wick whatever other faults he may have used his position effectively there to call Ron out and to show quite why Ron's comments were so utterly shitty.  If he deserves criticism for other stuff (and IMO he does) he also deserves kudos for that and he has my thanks for it too, nobody else in that thread was able to call Ron on that crap and I'm glad he did.
