I blame it on the easy-going West Coast attitude of us Vancouverites.

When the group voted on whether to 86 him only one other guy and myself voted yeah.

I'm the only real "asshole" in the group; that's why he hasn't played in my games for the better part of a year, and that's why I took the initiative to go over this issue with the group resulting in a consensus that he gets to run one half-session every four weeks instead of every third weekend.

If the games were at my place instead of a third-party location he would have been gone a long time a ago.

I can work on assignments and study at home for those four hours if he continues to shit the bed.

Jesus, it makes me not want to ever move to Vancouver, then.  Is this part of the gaming club you've sometimes mentioned? Is that why you can't say "fuck it, I don't want to play with this retard"?

Naw, the Red Box Vancouver Crew (the other gaming group I'm involved in) is the gaming club I've mentioned before; those guys have their shit together and are all solid.

Which could be considered counter intuitive since the Red Box crew does open, advertised games at public locations and there's never been any retards.

However, the group with the demoted GM consists of good friends of mine that I have been playing with for years; a while ago I said that he couldn't play in my games. Later I said I wasn't going to play with him anymore, and the group asked me to stay and he was put on notice re. his drinking.

He manages to hold it together in the game I played with him, but with him fucking up with the game he was running the group talked and he now gets four hours a month to put on the clownshoes.

And those are four hours that I'll be working on my science classes at home.

...and I will be soliciting feedback from the group regarding those four hours.

Believe me, I'm dreadfully embarrassed by this state of affairs.

Are you guys friends with the drunk? Or just gaming acquaintances?

If he's a friend, he deserves an intervention ASAP. If he's not a friend, the group should boot this dude.

A friend; I was discussing doing an intervention and was told by a friend of his that has known him far longer than I that it was useless as it has been tried in the past; I did tell him that the cognizant impairment from long term alcohol abuse was the reason he can't play my games that he needs to get help.

As a relevant aside, a former player who ended up having to get treatment and quit drinking (his drinking was never a game problem) wanted to play with us again; as there's always someone having a couple of responsible drinks at our game I put my foot down as there's no way I'm going to condone a recovering alcoholic being in a social drinking environment.
