This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Casey777;256150Hrm, I found the Pendragon Book of Knights & Ladies, Advanced Character Generation on Gregg Stafford's Pendragon page. It looks a lot like exactly what I'm looking for to expand 5th edition's options. Lots more homelands, British and beyond, more religions, and any time during the GPC. But for $50 printed and with no pdf version available yet, no go for me until a hopefully much cheaper pdf comes out!

Anyone have Knights & Ladies and is it as comprehensive as the preview info looks?

I have it. And its very, very comprehensive.

Quote from: jswa;256136Hey Pundit: Is that a weekly thing you've got going? Have any comments on the way it plays (with the extended time between adventures and that sort of thing; it's something I've never done before)?

Anyone else who's running/has run a Pendragon 5th campaign can chime in, also.

We play every two weeks. Its plays really well, the players have their Winter Period, where they do all their manor stuff, then they go to the court, and then they have an adventure that year (which can either be something to do with the events detailed for that year, or one of the hundreds of generic adventures included).  Its one of my most popular campaigns.

Seems like a good place to ask. Grand Poobah, given that our tastes and philosophies in RPGs are almost diametrically opposed, why do you think it is that we both find PD to be a pinnacle of game design? Serious question.

Quote from: jswa;256133I've decided to definitely pick up Pendragon 5th and the Great Pendragon Campaign whenever I have the chance. It doesn't look like it's currently on Lulu, though...

If anyone's throwing these up onto eBay anytime soon, let me know.

(smacks self for not remembering this until now)

In the meantime I suggest looking out for a copy of the Prince Valiant RPG. It's another Chaosium RPG by Gregg Stafford licensed from the comicstrips, is a Pendragon light and is heavily illustrated with examples of adventures and campaigns. It's very good on its own right (like a very light "coin pool" game predating Vampire & IIRC Shadowrun too) and cites Pendragon for adding more details in the text. If you want more rules you could easily crib a rough BRP or BRP/5 d20 version.

You should be able to find it cheap in game stores that have old stock or online. I think Stafford occasionally puts some signed copies on eBay for cheap. :hatsoff:

Greg Stafford's page for the Prince Valiant RPG.

It's nowhere near Pendragon for Mallory type Arthur, but it's still a great compact Arthurian game. More than enough to bid the time until you get Pendragon & the GPC! :emot-clint:

Pendragon has always had a huge but subtle influence on all of my games. I recommend Pendragon 5. They did a beautiful job of streamlining and refocusing the game onto what it was all about originally.

Because Pendragon is that brilliant, that it transcends even your otherwise stunning ability to like mostly shitty pretentious games written by pseudo-artistic douchebags?

I've got a (maybe stupid?) question regarding both the Book of Knights and Ladies and the Book of the Manor that Greg Stafford is selling at his site. How can you buy them? You just pay him using Paypal and hope he noticed you paid him? You write an e-mail to him before paying? To which address? Or what?
