Special thanks to Dr Rotwang! for giving me an idea for a thread.
I want to know more about it. I love Classic Deadlands, and played a crappy convention game of Reloaded right after it came out. I was really not impressed.
Please highlight the differences between Classic and Reloaded for me folks. Assume I know nothing about Savage Worlds...which is 90% true.
Deadlands: Reloaded is uglier than classic.

So, no one can tell me the difference between Savage Worlds and CLassic Deadlands?

I've never played Classic, so can't really help.
What I will say though is that new inductees seem to be far more satisfied with Reloaded than the old Classic fans. The main bone of contention seems to be a lack of detail/crunch in the new system, although I find the SW rules fine for this sort of game.
I just know the RELOADED version from the copies we have at the store. Its been tempting me to BUY it.
The artwork, timeline and setting inside look fantastic. I have seen copies of the older version across the street at Half-Price Books, the artwork and style seemed pretty consistent. The artwork on RELOADED looked better to me.
Don't laugh, but I actually thought of using GURPS 4th/e with the DEADLANDS:RELOADED book , even tho I have the SAVAGE WORLDS core rule book.
If you have the spare funds - it looks like a good buy.

Why haven't I bought it yet ? I tend to try to justify game buys to myself. If I can't use it with my current campaign - then I tend to delay buying an item.
i'm the opposite of drew--i haven't played reloaded
i've played classic a few times and had a blast. it took a while for my brain to wrap around the dice & cards mechanic.
i have the quick freebie SW rules downloaded but haven't had the chance to really read them and see what's different yet. maybe classic's different poker chips v. reloaded's bennies? that's all i could think of off the top of me 'ed.

You know Koltar that if the Deadlands book looks interesting to you. There is a 3rd ed GURPS Deadlands book. Even if you dont play it in 3rd. It would be easy to convert from 3rd to 4th. The Gurps version is the only version I've played. So I cant really compare original and the reloaded.
I don't know if any of the Deadlands fans around here picked up the new book at all... including myself. Most of us just don't want to buy two books to play the game (SW book and the Reloaded book). The copy I glanced through looked nice enough though.
Let's see, here, I never did classic deadlands but...
The original system is Baroque and flavourful while Reloaded is simple and fun.
The original system needs a few supplements to be playable, Reloaded needs Savage Worlds to be playable.
The original system is well supported with buckets of sequels and supplements while Reloaded is flexible enough to use that stuff with a little work.
The original system is orange and Reloaded is brown.
I'll be going with Savage Worlds + Reloaded myself since I love miniatures and have a nifty wild west themed deck of cards.

I bought it despite not being a Savage Worlds fan just to have it, read the setting material, etc.. I was disappointed. While it's full color, it's also ugly (particularly the bestiary) and poorly laid out. While I don't think the original mechanics are fantastic or particularly well suited to the setting, neither are Savage Worlds'. And some of the new mechanics have that...clunky, strapped on feel.

Snipped off the rest.
Um... it needs supplements to be playable. Wish I would have known that when I ran the game for months using only the main rulebook. Heck when it first came out there were lots of people playing it with only the main rulebook before any supplement came out. It sold well and there were lots of people playing it and talking about it.
