This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I went to see Avatar 2 on Christmas vacation and also saw the trailer for the new D&D movie.  It looked surprisingly good.  This is tempered by a conversation I once had with a friend in LA who makes trailers.  He said he could make any dumpster fire of a movie look great with a bit of work.  I'm torn between wanting to see a really good D&D movie, and not wanting to encourage WotC in their current direction.  Thoughts?

Yarrgh, mate. 'Twill be the best way to see this film, me thinks.

The bottle of rum will probably help make the film itself palatable, to boot. ;-)

I suspect that it will be in the dollar bin at Wal mart before the year is out.

danskmacabre

I'll probably see it.
Expectations are not high, but I expect it'll have some good moments.

ForgottenF

I'm pretty hard on the "WOTC will not get another cent of my money" train right now, but if I get the opportunity to see it for free, I might just for the meme value

Wait for Pitch Meeting.

Producer Guy: So you have a D&D movie for me?
Writer Guy: Yes Sir I do...

Philotomy Jurament

Zero interest in the movie.
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

Rhymer88

I'm only interested in the monsters. Somebody will probably do a youtube video about them, so I won't watch the actual movie.

This should probably be moved to the Media forum.

That said. I'm not watching it unless I can for free. Knowing Wokewood it will have the checkboxes. And the story will suck (my prediction, you can prove me wrong after you've seen it LOL)

I have no faith in anything made by Wokewood. Anyway, my 2cp.

I wouldn't watch it if they paid me.  My time is more valuable than that. :D

So true. I think I often overlook the value of my time. I want to be entertained when I spend money on entertainment. And if it ain't entertaining then I've wasted more than money.

I want to be entertained, but not at the price of enriching those who push that agenda.
