This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Short summary: NuTSR has filed for chapter 7 - which involves liquidation of their assets. This has triggered an automatic pause in the legal proceedings with WOTC

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

Is the brand worth anything at this point?
The value of any brand is only as good as its products. Original TSR's name had value because it had products people wanted to buy. This one, near as I can tell, never even really got a single project off the ground and so what pretty much worthless.

Bemusingly TRS is still puttering along some 23 years later putting out Dragon Dice they rescued from wotc just pitching it all into the garbage.

TSwhateveR barely had any product and what they did have someone fucked up completely and they still have not recovered from that. Then going into a lawsuit? This was inevitable.

WotC owns a ton of TSR IPs they're letting rot in copyright limbo. Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Star*Drive, Dark•Matter, Urban Arcana, etc. Even if tabletop is a dead market, they can still mine those for crpgs.

Gawd, I hate weak antitrust laws and overly long copyright terms.

I kind of liked Gygax Magazine, what few issues there were.

It was good, right? So many interesting articles. Sad that it couldn't be sustained.
TTRPGs are just games. Friends are forever.

Exactly. I started to lose sympathy for NuTSR the moment they started focusing on wrestling the TSR brand from WotC in lieu of producing anything.

And nothing of value was lost.

Other than the time devoted to discussing this dumpster fire of a company. Yay, us!

Heck I wasn't aware that there were three! It was the one Luke Gygax was involved in.

This is a lesson that Hasrbro/WotC haven't learned.
