Short summary: NuTSR has filed for chapter 7 - which involves liquidation of their assets. This has triggered an automatic pause in the legal proceedings with WOTC
Dang. TSR goes under, again.
This TSR was filled with scumbags. No loss.
Is the brand worth anything at this point?

The value of any brand is only as good as its products. Original TSR's name had value because it had products people wanted to buy. This one, near as I can tell, never even really got a single project off the ground and so what pretty much worthless.

Bemusingly TRS is still puttering along some 23 years later putting out Dragon Dice they rescued from wotc just pitching it all into the garbage.
TSwhateveR barely had any product and what they did have someone fucked up completely and they still have not recovered from that. Then going into a lawsuit? This was inevitable.
WotC owns a ton of TSR IPs they're letting rot in copyright limbo. Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Star*Drive, Dark•Matter, Urban Arcana, etc. Even if tabletop is a dead market, they can still mine those for crpgs.
Gawd, I hate weak antitrust laws and overly long copyright terms.

I kind of liked Gygax Magazine, what few issues there were.
And nothing of value was lost.

It was good, right? So many interesting articles. Sad that it couldn't be sustained.

Exactly. I started to lose sympathy for NuTSR the moment they started focusing on wrestling the TSR brand from WotC in lieu of producing anything.

All those game settings will be lost in time like tears in rain...

Other than the time devoted to discussing this dumpster fire of a company. Yay, us!

Heck I wasn't aware that there were three! It was the one Luke Gygax was involved in.

This is a lesson that Hasrbro/WotC haven't learned.
When is the asset fire sale so I can buy everything for pennies on the dollar.

If they didn't produce anything then there are no assets to sell, hence the bankruptcy.

There's those star frontier books though, plus the domain name and trademark dress. Those can all be put up for sale.
Everything about this iteration of TSR has been a joke. Despite being several men strong, they've never been able to come up with a single new product. The one product that they appeared to be slowly working on had some racist section in it, and one of the few people with access to it leaked it online, thus cancelling the project and allowing Hasbro a fresh crack at their own lawsuit.
If they hadn't hired racist nitwits, it would never have happened.
If they had only hired racist nitwits, it would have not have leaked.
If somehow it did leak, and they stood their ground and claimed free speech, it would be a court case they could in theory win.
Literally none of this happened. They hired nitwits, but at an insufficient density for nitwit solidarity. Then their leadership tucked tail and ran. Truly they have failed from every conceivable direction.

I am not familiar with anything that this iteration of TSR wrote. What exactly was racist? I ask because in this day and age snowflakes will claim everything is racist including completely unrelated shit such as math.

Go look up tenkar's review of nu-TSR's Star Frontiers. It was a dumpster fire of racist content that made no sense in that day and age.

It made even less sense in a Star Frontiers book.

Good god. On one hand, there's WotC's sensitivity readers, and on the other there's shit like this.
Who on earth thought this would fly? I'm seeing shades of
FATAL.

ALLEGEDLY, IMHO, it was dave Johnson who wrote that. go look up his twitter history and it makes the Bledsow's look like saints.
And nothing of value was lost that day.
At least FATAL was complete and published.
I've read Fatal. It was published, not complete.
Which is kinda scary all things considered.
