This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

More info apparently later this week when they're at the NY toy show.

I hope everyone is looking forward to more happy o-face cosplayers and a female barbarian moving into her adventuring college dorm room apparently.   I can't help but notice that their big splash page is showing off exclusively female character art where recognizeable but I'm sure it's just purely by coincidence and not on purpose...

Wait, the art is real?

I thought it was just a joke meme someone posted on twitter...

Glad to see the Keep on the Borderlands is getting a bit of love from WotC. Are they backing away from Forgotten Realms?

Well we knew they were planning to rape Keep on the Borderlands eventually so this is zero surprise.

Have you lost your fucking mind!?!  Getting "a bit of love" from WotC generally involves a property getting bent over a chair and violated repeatedly.  If you actually like Keep on the Borderlands, you'd want it to be completely ignored by WotC, rather than having to console its sobbing wreck after WotC is done with it...

I expect the Keep to be in the Realms, or at least have an option. The current approach appears to be: "We are the Realms. We will add your biological and mechanical distinctiveness to our own. Your setting will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."

It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

Haven't they moved Keep on the Borderlands to the realms before? I feel like I've heard that somewhere.
Playing: Mongoose Traveller 2e
Running: On Hiatus
Planning: Too many things, and I should probably commit to one.

Horrible, horrible art. The cover is cartoony BS but at least is an action scene. But the rest? Atrocious, especially the very obviously trans Barbarian.

Insane Nerd Ramblings

Saw it earlier on Twitter when Diversity & Dragons (IIRC) posted it. Utter dogshit art that looks like its made for halfwit Harry Potter-stans. Literally nothing in it evokes 'adventure'.

They will probably set it in Greyhawk with a sidebar about using other settings.  That's the current default DMG setting from what I have heard.

They have already done what amounts to a Realms version of this for 5e at least twice that I know of.  Lost Mines of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak are both essentially this same thing.  Here's a hub.  Here's some adventures locations and hooks.  Here's some stuff about the wilderness in between.  Here's the main thing they need to do.

I would be fine with another Lost Mines as the new intro set.  I think that style of adventure works really well as a introduction and as the starting point for a campaign.

In Return they moved it to Greyhawk if recall right.
