DCC long running game

Anyone here have a longer running (say 15-20 sessions plus) campaign with DCC?   My group likes the game a lot,  I was wondering what people's longer term games look like as the tone for the default game/modules seems a bit gonzo where characters end up dead from magical mishap, deformed or gone long before level 6 or so.  Input and thoughts are welcome.

I've never had a DCC game last more than a couple of sessions. I love the game personally, but a lot of players either don't want their characters to die at all or unless they consent to it beforehand, or hate running four characters at once. I tried to pitch it when running DCC that in a funnel you use the other three characters to protect the one you'd like to develop most among the four during a funnel, but the players were more used to 5E superhero gaming.

My players are not so worried about dying, they played GURPS and even in SW where we had a wipe or two, largely just to dice falling as they may.  I just wonder what sorts of challenges you take on as you advance with DCC, I could see a G series all the way to Q1 type of campaign, I just wonder about the survivability of adapting something like that.

We have done the funnel a couple of times, and I might let them try developing characters as suggested in Tales of a Forgotten empire where they do the roll 4 and drop the lowest and assign to taste and then start as a 1st level character.   The game seems default lethal enough that I do not think that is going to sway the balance a great deal, and if it does I think that is pretty easy to tweak.

I have been running my DCC campaign for 4+ years (73 sessions = ~ one session every three weeks).

While there have been any number of times when the PCs were at the verge of death, I have had only one PC die. Two other PCs have survived multiple "Recover the body" checks. And one of those PCs has both legs missing from two 22s on Crit Table V (he is now known as Lt. Dan).

The Wizard PCs have been particularly lucky. Only one of them has had to roll for corruption (twice).

Each player has multiple PCs. Currently, I have four players, with 5, 4, 4, and 2 PCs each. At this point everyone has at least one PC at 5th level, with an average PC level of 3.75.

There is no over-arching story arc. As the game unfolds, adventure opportunities present themselves to the PCs, which they can either take or not take. I also solicit the players regarding what their PCs are looking to do in the world (e.g., one Cleric PC wants to become a lich).

I do have world events (e.g., an impending rebellion) that occur. I leave it to the players to decide to what extent, if any, their PCs attempt to play an active role. And there are no guarantees that their efforts will have any impact.

As for adventures, I either create them out of the whole cloth or modify existing adventures.
