I've heard there's some dudes (fans, not goodman games people) who are working on a "gamma world" version of the DCC rules. What (need i ask) do we think about such a development?
What other games/genres would people like to see a DCC-version of?

I know there is work on the Ravenloft esque setting (Translyvania Chronicles?)
I think it might be an interesting setting for a Sword and Planet Space Opera style game.
I think gonzo weirdness is in the games' DNA so I wouldn't try to tune it for anything too 'straight' or serious.
My first thought is GURPS Illuminati, which always struck me as too wacky for GURPS. Maybe have all the bizarre 'secret societies' set up as Patrons somehow.
I could see it for a Weird West setting... I'd probably like it better for Deadlands than SW.
I wouldn't use it for Star Wars but I could see a mash-up of Barbarella, Danger Diabolik and the Gamma One movies... toss in some Jerry Cornelius and Lemmy Caution as well.
If there were a game based on Moebius's 'Airtight Garage' or Druillet's 'Lone Sloane' DCC might be a fun fit. Airtight Garage reads like it was rolled up on some random plot generator.
Also, something like The Brothers Grimm... Black Forest fairy tale creatures vs. Napoleon's soldiers... with bits of wacky clockwork technology thrown in.
Intrigued...
I would check out a DCC gamma world, but honestly, 1E gammaworld is my prefered version.
I ran two campaigns with 2e? 3e? gamma world, and ran a campaign with d20 gammaworld, and I see no advantage over good old 1E.
1E is sleek and simple, the other versions add unneeded complexity.
The only real problem I have with 1e gamma world is that the 'balance' between characters is about as random and unbalanced as any rpg can possibly be.

Perhaps this was intentional by design?

It is intended, as far as know.
However, some players do not enjoy being afflicted with crippling mutational defects while a comrade has mutational advantages that are godlike.
I have traditionally used the fully random character generation.
If they hold to the ethos of first edition Gamma World this could be the fantastic edition that actually sticks.
The thing to remember about old school random characters is that the hopeless ones die quickly and then you get to roll a new character.
Yeah, there is a G+ Community working on the development of a DCC Gamma World game. Actually, I think that it's a good fit. Although I prefer my GW games a little more grim-n-gritty than written, GW has the just right amount of gonzo to be paired with the gonzo-fantasy of the DCC RPG.

Yes, I agree it would be a natural fit, largely on account of the Gonzo.
