This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Melan;367010I really like my tan/black Gamescience sets:

So sexy.

I love Gamescience dice. Although in a weird way, I do miss the sharp caltrop-esque points of the old d4s.

I have some dice, that I use, a couple of sets and a few individual ones all mashed together, that I set aside from the pound-or-so of dice that I leave in the players' area; these are my "GM" dice. But they aren't anything special, nor do I see them as something overly special. They're the nicer of the dice I have, yes.

But I don't get the ideas some people have about dice. I'd never spend excessive amounts on dice to get "high tech design" or some shit like that.

That's only because you haven't seen Lou Zocchi do his pitch in person yet.

My favorite dice set are my yellowish Game Science dice which I use all of the time.

Here is a picture I just took of them:

Hairfoot

My dice are mongrels.  Clears, opaques, metallics of different colours and vintage.  Something about complete sets makes me squirm

Great spiel, but I cringe each time he uses "dice" as the singular.

I mentioned before I don't get into specific dice.  However, I DO get into providing my old jar o' dice to my players when they forget theirs.  Mostly, I just think my girlfriend took an excellent photo:

There are a few hidden gems in there.  You might, for instance, see a die from the Masters of the Universe Board Game: Battle for Eternia.  I believe I see a tiny die from TWERPS as well.

Hell yeah.

I only have one complete set of dice, and they're not my favourites.

My faves would be the smoky translucent d30, black with white rose d10, a bunch of deep blue translucent rounded-corner d6s, and the black d20 with copper numbering... and some of those specialty ones that have locations, letters, and all manner of strange things on them.

I see a HeroQuest die from Milton Bradley in there! (d6 by the opening of the jar, inside of it, on the right side, with a skull on one of its sides and a shield with a lion rampant on another)

On a side note, love the carpet. It must be a bitch to wash.

Yeah.  I have a lot of those around.  I picked up a used, second copy of MB's HeroQuest years ago for about 5 USD.  Good investment, just for the minis, but I also abuse the tokens, board, etc.

I had a pretty good time playing HeroQuest. :)

You mean, evil Taiwanese dice killed off Tobi?  :(

(Seriously, though, the man does a great job.)
"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."
