This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

which is damn cool....in a chilling way.

uhuh, the story starts out in a town i grew up around...my 2nd favorite McCarthy book, also. :D  Judge Holden would be a fantastic big-bad for this kind of game.  he always read as being vaguely cult'ish.

The Shaman

Cthvlhv Imperiovs:. The Mythos in Imperial Rome.
On weird fantasy: "The Otus/Elmore rule: When adding something new to the campaign, try and imagine how Erol Otus would depict it. If you can, that\'s far enough...it\'s a good idea. If you can picture a Larry Elmore version...it\'s far too mundane and boring, excise immediately." - Kellri, K&K Alehouse

Shit, I'd forgotten about the scalp hunters.  There's the topic for an unpleasant little adventure for you right there, whether you rope in the Mythos or play it straight.

See also, Ravenous for a direct tie-in to the Wendigo/Ithaqua.

Sorry not to derail (But here it goes anyway) The Proposition is a good movie. If you look'n for Aussie westerns with featuring Bushrangers you should check out Mad Dog Morgan.

Cthulhu Invictus.  Its in their monographs section, along with a supplement or two.

Balbinus

Quote from: David R;291044Ian, is DG a series of books and if so, which ones do personally like ? Balbinus, I would use Song of Kali as inspiration for a Cthulhu sourcebook set in India, the same way I would use Don't Look Now (Roeg film) as inspiration for an Unknown Armies sourcebook set in Venice.

David R

With that, and a Blood Meridian reference, you can be assured if you ever run CoC anywhere near me I'll be at the door hoping to play.

Or creepily staring in the window, that works for me too...

A Cthulhu Sourcebook about the Andes, Incan ruins, and the nazca plain, would be a good addition.

Quote from: Ian Absentia;290894A very cool idea, but dependent upon the now-very-disparate Pagan Publishing fellas.  Then again, they've sorted out their issues to put out Secrets of Mesoamerica recently, so who knows?I can't recall who just off hand, but I know that someone was working on just such a project.  It wasn't CthulhuTech...was it also the Pagan boys?

!i!

[Edit: It was Pagan Publishing -- they had plans for putting out a product called End Times.  Some of the unpublished work by one of the authors was released here.
Also, there's the whole Cthulhu Rising setting material, available both in monograph and by download.]

I know there were a couple of White Dwarf adventures that were one off adventures that were ahead of its time in taking CoC out of the 1920s and into the modern day and the near future.

I wish they would put out a sourcebook devoted to  writers that inspired Lovecraft. Such as Lord Dunsany, Ambrose Bierce , Poe ,ect.
"Crom!", mutterd the Cimmerian. " Here is the grandfather of all parrots. He must be a thousand years old! Look at the evil wisdom of his eyes. What mysteries do you guard, Wise Devil?"
